Just wondering if anyone is going to the above on 7 and 8th Jan? Whippets on 7th ( saturday )

Its this societys first champ show apparently and judge is Mrs Jean Shaw - does anyone know much about her? I dont believe shes a whippet judge?

Hi Lisa

Yes Jean is a whippet judge. She went into partnership with Fred Nicholas and shows under the Lowglen affix.

Although its classed as a champ show , it isnt for whippets as we dont have CCS so really its just an open show and the entry fee is £11.00 (w00t) .

I asked Pat Dufty why so much and she said they still have to have all the benching as a normal Champ show would be doing , Normally at Boston CS I would be entering 2 maybe 3 whippets ,but at £11.00 I might manage one

The only good thing its at NEWARK (20 miles away :D , but in JAN (w00t) Its always colder inside than outside there (w00t)

Mmmmm,i'm still debating whether to go or not.

I would like to give Jean Shaw an entry, but like Jax say's, at £11 an entry for an open show, & in January (w00t)

& I doubt we'll get any better heating for our money

Mad? :clown: US? :clown: Never :- "

Is it mad to pay £11 per dog to visit what seems like the coldest place in England to walk in a triangle and, if your lucky, win a piece of cardboard. Is It???? :clown:

Oh you are soft you folks from the Midlands and the North

Now let's see - January on the South Coast, that would be Pina Colada on the terrace followed by croquet on the lawn, maybe time for a quick spot of sunbathing topping up our tans ready for Crufts. I think there is one show in January somewhere within a 30 miles radius (w00t) ,don't like to travel too far in that heat. 8) 8)

Hi Everyone,

Unfortunately we can not charge any less than this as putting on a championship costs so much money. However I would ask people to support Jean Shaw as I think she should be given the opportunity to help on her way to giving tickets and this will count as a Club show for her. I personally would enter my dogs regardless of the price under Jean if I could. We will continue to put up breed specialists to judge at Boston and hope eventually we might get tickets for whippets.

Also at Boston's Christmas Show the whippets have nearly always had the best ring to show in with green carpet not a concrete floor! And we have always given special rosettes for whippets and I will be sponsering the special rosettes at the Championship for whippets.

So basically I am saying please support us!

Thanks

Hi Alayna, does this mean that whippets will still get the lovely "big green carpet"ring at this show? I do hope so as they love it

I wasnt trying to put people off entering Alayna but we whippet people arnt used to a champ show without CCs now are we :- "

I do hope you get a good entry for Jean but we have to think about all the champ shows ahead in 2007 at £20.00 + a time (w00t) Im still only entering the one though and havnt made up my mind which one :b

Jan in Newark Brrrrrrr will certainly need my thermals on

I didnt realise it would count as a club show though

Yes, have to admit that the £11 entry fee is putting me off :- " Haven't decided whether or not i'll enter yet!

Showed under Jean a couple of years back at SYHS - she didn't pull a big entry then but it may have clashed with another show (dont think it did but can't remember).

Like JAX didn't realise a Ch show without CC's counted as a club show but as most Ch shows have CC's for whippets it isn't usually a problem. Only LKA and now Boston but LKA is getting CC's for us.

Similarly the cost is a major concern (I know it isn't the societies decision) but two dogs at Newark in the winter for £22 is a lot of money particularly if someone enters youngsters when they can easily be spooked by those heaters.

Hi again,

Just wanted to add after talking to Dad last night (Treasurer Boston DCS) it costs 10 pounds and fifty pence per non cc dog, hope that makes it easier to understand why it costs so much.

As for the green carpet at the show it will only be BIS and I am not sure which ring whippets are in yet, we would love to put it in every ring but storing it and getting it to the show and cost is all to much!

We are also looking for alternative heating but again it will come down to cost but we are trying are best.
