HI

Can anyone help ?? Last week we took our youngest whippet Nelson to the vets as he kept yelping. The vet thought it was a neck strain and prescribed some anti imflammatory tablets. He has stopped yelping but now seems to be wheezing when inhaling. He is still eating but has been sick a few times over the last couple of days. He doesnt seem to as distressed as he was last week , should we be worrying unduly ?

Cheers

Hum cant offer much advice except if you are still worried take him back to the vets, could it just be a sore throat (do dogs get these?) or has he swallowed a squeeky toy :- "

It would be nice if there was a NHS direct type thing for dogs

Good luck

If he is not getting any worse I wouldnt worry too much, but if he has a stiff painful neck and has trouble bending to eat and seems hot you should take him back to the vet, sometimes dogs get a sort of meningitus. I think he probably had a sore throat, the vet would have seen if he had swallowed something sharp and it had got lodged.

Best of luck, just get down there if you are worried, better safe than sorry, a good vet wont mind.

[hi all

thanks for your replies ! Nelson is a bit better and his breathing is better, we took him to the vets yesterday and his temperature is up....He gave a injection of anti biotic and we are to take him back on Friday, as the vet was quite concerned about his temperature and the fact he had lost 2lbs in just 1 week, a lot for a little chap.....

Poor thing :( :
