3.30pm Friday set off from Manchester for Broadlands. 245 mile journey towing a caravan should be there by 8.30pm.
Decide on M5 route due to road works on M42.
That was the plan.
1st disaster - 40 mile traffic jam M5 going nowhere.
2nd - Electric fan now decides to stop working temp gauge in the red. Quick fix on hard shoulder and finally reached Broadlands 10.15pm.
3rd - 30 minutes driving around Romsey looking for the entrance
4th - Told by security we couldn't drive down to the Lurcher - Terrier area. Kat to the rescue, escorted us down.
Set up in the dark.
5th - Water heater doesn't want to work
Fed by Paul & Sara (A Big Thanks) and finally bedded down @ 1.30am.
Saturday started well with the racing and coursing. Then,
6th - Phoebe managed to get herself bit in the holding pen and miss her run. Thanks to Alans wife for standing down to let here run.
Refreshment time. First beer of the evening,
7th - A wasp decides he wants my beer and promptly stings me in the mouth.
8th - Run out of beer.
9th - Flat caravan battery
Thank God Saturday came to an end
9th - Woke up Sunday very tired with a hangover.
Blew away the cobwebs with chase the bunny.
10th - Upset somebody without even realising it (Sorry Sarah) and really spoiled her day. No excuses, I was just being a miserable git.
11th - Jockey wheel tyre decided to blow up in the heat.
Managed to set off at a reasonable hour and made good time getting home
12th - Crunched the caravan into the gate post reversing into the drive.
Although the afore mentioned incidents damped down my spirits somewhat, still had a great time, as usual.
Bring on Tatton. Mind you it will probably take hours to get there knowing the great northern carpark (M60).
See you there
Gary
