WE HAVE THE FERNPLAST LEATHER WHIPPET COLLARS, AND WE HAVE NORMAL SNAP FASTERNER LEADS, BUT HAVE HAD TOO MANY CLOSE CALLS WITH THEM RECENTLY AND I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR BUCKLE ENDED LEADS...

HOW DO THEY FIT ONTO NORMAL COLLARS? OR DO I HAVE TO BUY NEW ONES???

OR DOES IT JUST COME AS ONE... LEAD AND COLLAR?

PLEASE SOMEONE EXPLAIN IT TOO ME!

I only have buckle ended leads for the greyhounds and they came as a set. The only problem with them is that when they are itching to get off the lead for a run if they're anything like my lot it takes ages to unbuckle. But they are safer than the usual leads but the leather needs checking regularly for wear and tear.

CAN YOU TELL ME WHERE YOU GOT YOURS FROM?

AND WERE THEY EXPENSIVE, HAVE BEEN LOOKING AT LEADS ON INTERNET AND SEEN SOME IN USA BUT THEY PRODUCE THEM WITH SNAP FASTENINGS, HAVE E'D THEM TO ASK HOW MUCH FOR BUCKLE LEADS..

We have got buckle on leads for the same reason - too many close calls with the trigger hooks coming undone.

We had a local saddler make ours for us. I think they cost us about £10 each. Dave at The Whippet & Grehound shop can get them for you too - seperately, or as a set. I've put a link to the web sight but if you can't see what you want, give him a ring, He's very helpful.

I've never once had this problem with trigger fasteners and was quite surprised when I read this thread the other day as I'd never heard of it happening before. Then on our way home from our walk this afternoon bugger me if the same thing didn't happen to us! Eli had just had a final roll on the grass before we came out of the field and back into the village, waiting to cross the road and there's me holding an empty lead. Luckily he didn't realise otherwise he'd have been off like a shot :sweating: So it's buckle leads for us too from now on!
