Good afternoon whippet racers. Just to give you an update on the situation with the Bend Championships at Hall Green.

Stephen Rea sent me an e-mail and acknowledge the fact that he had double booked a greyhound meeting on the same day as our bend Championships.

After a short discussion we have come to the arrangement that our Bend Championships will now be at Hall Green on Sunday April 2nd.

This date was originally going to be the puppy/yearling championships at Worcester, we will now hold this event on Sunday March 26th at Worcester

Fortunately the changing of dates has not encroached on any Regional or Club Opens as the said 2 dates were booked by the BWRA anyway, so all that has happened is that we have changed the form of racing to take place.

I have tried to contact Chris (whippet news ) to ask her to change the adverts and the calendar dates so hopefully this will be resolved.

So just to confirm BWRA Championships Sunday April 2nd Hall Green

BWRA Pup/Yearling Championships Sunday March 26th Worceste

This message is being put on K9 as at the present time it is the quickest form of communication until the official BWRA web site is up and running.

Anyone with any queries can e-mail them to the BWRA web site which Malcolm Clark will pick up.

regards Dopreen (BWRA SEC )

 this is a joke from one very annoyed whippet racer

Thank you for letting us know Doreen- :D

What would we do without the web eh?

Yeh - thanks Doreen, sure 1 weeks isn't going to make that much difference.

Thank You Doreen - But i must disagree in the decision for changing the date of the event as it is tradion for as long as i can remember that the bend champs was always held at the end of march.

Quote Doreen Hopkin's Feb Whippet News 2006 BWRA National reps meeting Sun 18th Dec 05 (old hall): Doreen Hopkins then explained that there had been a time scale put on the amount of time allocated for us to stage our bend event. T Cooper suggested one way round this would be to have pre-entry for this for the bend championships. after much disscusion the reps decided that this was not an option. Linda Broom propossed that the BWRA find another venue to stage the events if the time scale at Hall Green was going to be a problem. Dave Galea challeneged the desision to change the venue when it was voted on by all members who attended the AGM. Alison Armstrong proposed Askern, the only problem with this venue is the whippets are not allowed in the stadium before 12:30. John Stayte asked on reflection would it not be possible to stage the event in the time scale set, especially if the weigh in & entries could be made to run smoothly wiht the co-operation with the members. A vote was taken; to find another venue 7 Votes, to stay at Hall Green 6 Votes.

Can someone explain to me why this vote has been over turned as your regional reps represent the members of the region if their views do not count why do we have regional reps.

It has been brought to my attention thta the BWRA are going to run the scrath dogs straight after the weigh in while they are printing the programme for the rest of the dogs, this to me is unacceptable as i have a dog who does not travel very well and who needs at least 1 hours rest as i have at least a 4 hour journey if the traffic is well and i may not be the only one who will ahve this problem, if this is the case then please make it clear as i will not be wasting my time & money.

Your Sincerly R. Bentley

Why if the vote was 7 for finding another venue and 6 to stay at Hall Green are we still running there especially with the time limit.

As for swapping the dates around because of the double booking i don't think its good enough, if like some people you have yearling's running really well and want to go to the yearling championships at Worcester, but have had them running on the bends for the bend champs it would mean giving them a straight race a week before the bend champs...alot of people don't mix there dogs up when they race the bends they are kept on the bends and visa versa with the straights....why can they not hold it a week before 19th march if you need to stop at hall green ...personally i think stopping to your original dates and looking for another venue would of been a wiser action to take.

well it sort of does to those of us with pups as it means we have a week less to get them ready. also some people might have put hols in for the original dates if they work nightshift etc.

yes carol thats right ants booked a day of from his job and as hes in the police dont think he be able to change.plus i dont think attendance be as good as by then we nearly be in straight season,

We were planning on traveling down and staying over night (like alot of people from this area), so will have to change all the booking...

I work to a rosta that is prepared 2 months in advance. To get a date off I have to have it in 3 months in advance and compete with seven other staff for the dates off. I have had the date of the 26th of March booked since January and in one fell swoop it appears that the BWRA have inconvenienced many people including myself.

I cannot understand why the BWRA are content to reschedule the race meeting with a venue that cannot even get their own booking schedule right.

Isn't it clear that they favour a money making enterprise over one of the highest status events in our racing calendar. Why is it imperetive that we race at Hall Green, just because it is NGRC, you can get a pint and a sarnie at any dog track and running surfaces (which let's face it, any dog-person worth their salt has at the top of their mind) are of as good quality.

Now I wouldn't care if the BWRA decided to race as Easington, Cambois, Askern or Westhoughton just so long as they stick to the dates that they published in the racing calendar months ago.

I am sure I'm not the only one that is this cross.

Regarding the reps meeting who had the authorite to change the origianal vote surely this must be wrong. If you can change the votes willy nilly what is the point in voting in the first place. As somebody posted before what did happen to THE POSTAL VOTES ?? please dont be afraid to answer

AFRAID! THINK NOT! got to go Hazels coming  lol

I think you will find their should not have been any voting on the subject of venues because in 2004 it was voted in that proposals would be put forward every two years to be voted on by members so another venue should not have even been put forward for anybody to vote on. If you look in the BWRA rule book the top tables decision is final, what other organisation do you have any say in at all where and when they hold their events?

As for Easington, Cambois or Westhoughton as an alternative Judith do you think members at this end of the Country have a bottomless pit of money? You just do not realize how lucky you are living in the Midlands, when it comes to whippet racing and the travelling that's involved.

How you can expect anybody on works tirelessly on your behalf to carry on is beyond comprehention.

The committee is only in place to run the BWRA for there members..and the change in date is not suitable for some members. Its is obvious that the date mix up has been a genuine mistake by the stadium...but we have to work with members not against them ....

Don't think Hall Green was a fair distance for people in the north east and Scotland to travel too,( don't get me wrong i was not bothered where the champs was been held as we were going to go and stop at the hotel for the weekend could do with a short break)........do you reckon the further north people live that we are earning more wages...i know we don't have a bottomless pit of money ....or could it be the money tree at the bottom of the garden.

It would be unfair for some members to miss out racing there dogs at the champs though what ever reason because of the date change

thats what its about askern is to far for the south (w00t) well Birmingham is a long long way for the scotts and the north (w00t) seems voting is a waist of time might as well do away with reps then ......
