just to inform all BWRA members, that after great debate and study we now have the option of 3 x tracks to hold our straight championships on. The following are the details of all three tracks.

OPTION (1) MORETON IN MARSH GLOUCESTERSHIRE

This track is used by the WRCA for their pedigree championships and is in superb condition. It is set within a cricket ground, it has it's own club house with showers and toilets, and of course a bar in the club house.

The running surface of the track is very springy and in great condition , and can accomodate up to at least 270yds on a straight track.

The groundsman who looks after it for the Peds is quite happy to see that it is kept in this excellent condition for us should we wish to use it. They are willing to let us store any equipment that we may need to take there until such time that we hopefully find a permanent track for ourselves. We can also have the use of the tanoy system that they have. We will not be charged for skip hire as they dispose of the rubbish themselves, and we will not be charged for sewerage disposal.

There is ample room for caravans, the edge of the ground being tree lined so there is plenty of shade if you choose to park there, and they are willing to charge a reasonable price for camping.

At the side of the club house is a gate thet leads to a huge park, in the corner of this is another gate, when you go through this and turn the corner there is a little cottage hospital, then 500yds further on down a little alley way there is the town centre. This has a C0-OP, Tescos, Bookmakers, Fish & Chip shop, Indian restaurant, a Tai restaurant, that deliver meals if you want it. There were 5 x pubs that we could see two of which were AA recommended and did bed & breakfast, there was also a pharmacy and bakers, and of course all the local craft shops. The secretary from the WRCA was very helpful and offered to help in anyway that they can.

TONY COOPER ( chairman ) and I went to look at this venue today and highly recommend it, both from the safety aspect for the dogs, and the camping facilities for our members

OPTION (2) SWALLOWNEST,

this of course is where the NWWRF stage their championships, and is already known to a lot of whippet racers.

We have asked a BWRA member to measure the running distance on this track

and we could get approx 214yds in.

We also understand that football training has already started at this venue, so we would need assurances that the track would be in championship condition come August.

We also need assurances that we would have the use of straight fronted traps that were bolted together for all our scratch racing.

Any reps that vote for Option 2 would need to give assurances that the track was up to championships standard and that the straight fronted set of traps were available and bolted as required.

OPTION (3) KIRKCALDY

again this track is known to many whippet racers so they know what is on offer.

To decide on which venue to use we have asked every region to supply 2 x votes from their reps, this would give us 16 votes. In the event of there being a tie the decision would then go to the National Committee to each have a vote, if there is still a tie the Chairman would have the casting vote.

The National Committees first priority is to provide the safest and highest standard venue that we possibly can, and we promise to work to this end

regards Doreen

Thanks for that info Doreen, seems Glos. is the fave, sounds well good, hope I can get the time off to get there, I do like a nice Thai meal too :)

Regards,

Paul

Swallow's nest is closer for me but if the other track is as good as it sounds then the dogs welfare is upermost important. Personally I'll travel anywere aslong as my dogs came off sound. good luck to the B.W.R.A in getting every thing sorted.

OPTION (1) MORETON IN MARSH GLOUCESTERSHIRE

This venue in my opinion is a long way for the Northern and Scottish contingent to travel

OPTION (2) SWALLOWNEST,

As regards to the level break traps I presume that those already stored at Asfordby were to be moved to the defunct venue near Dudley so what is wrong with moving them to swollowsnest. In respect of the football practice already started at swallowsnest I am sure that those who live or use this club can tell whether it is being done on the racing track or if the racing track is roped off

OPTION (3) KIRKCALDY

This is the same reason as Moreton in the Marsh but vice versa.

Please note that this is my personal thought on the above venues, and not any group or clique’s.

Here here John now hows about we all get in touch with our regional reps regarding this issue before the imminent argument begins, Doreen has given us the information online, let's not forget that there are still BWRA members without internet access that also need to be informed.

Would I be right to assume that one would go to ones home club to vote which would then be passed on to the regional rep to give their vote on behalf of the majority decision in their region ?

my opinion is they have made moreton sound the better place to go by saying there is co'op and tai resteraunts etc but swallows nest has the same things like that lol just my opinion o:)

wel, that lets get this rite dorreen and tony have spent four days going round finding the best tracks for your dogs, if u can find better u go ahead, if the track was that bad tony wouldnt let me run my dogs there

and he said today that he would run his dogs there today, he told me that the track was in fantastic condition for the time of year, its really springy under foot and its perfect to run on at the present time and would only improve if we had any rain, this is the committee that u voted on and they have only done the best for your dogs, surely the safety of the dogs should be paramont to any and all racers before the few extra few miles u have to travel sue

I Hope it gos to swallownest, I think they seem to be hyping up morton,What traps would they be using at morton in my opinion thay seem to be down on swallownest for some reason thats why they are asking about traps.

They didn,t ask about traps at the other venues.

I understand the football and track has already been checked up on.sure the people who checked will put reply to football question on .

I think if you read my posts carefully Sue you will find that I have not once mentioned my own personal circumstances in this issue,

If anything I have posted to prevent the topic from turning into a slanging match, if you comprehend my original post. It is clear to see that other members have enjoyed a bit of lighthearted banter along with myself.

I will not be picked on.

just my opinion , the whole of mureton race track is waterd by the fire brigade

and used for whippet racing only ( no damage or bare spots due to football ) loads of run in for the big dogs. In this heat coming up to the champs any track being used would need a good soaking at least 3 times a week, unless you have a friendly fire brigade.

And there is plenty of shade under the trees so your dogs dont boil to death.

swallowsnest is the place nice kebab shop there aswell :- "

anyone that fancys a feast swallowsnest is the venue
