HELLO, PLEASE CAN SOMEBODY ADVISE ME AS TO WHEN IT IS OK TO REGISTER A DOG FOR RACING, ON MY .B.W.R.A. MEMBERSHIP CARD. AND ALSO THE DATES THAT IT IS NOT OK TO REGISTER . AS I GOT TOLD OFF LYN ROWLEY THAT THE BOOKS WERE CLOSED, IN MID OCTOBER, AND THAT SHE WAS NOT PREPARED TO LET ME REGISTER MY DOG... PLEASE ADVISE ME..THANKS.

RULE 5 No memberships or registrations will be accepted between 31st October and the AGM to allow for the balancing and auditing of the Association finances.

Hope this helps morris

morris the books are closed from october till january so no memberships or reg are taken you have had all year to register your dog you can not have the name you used yesterday beacuse there was a dog called silver bullet n 1971 all you had to do was phone and we could have sorted something out lynne

Just out of curiosity Morris, how old is the dog that you want to register

is it only a puppy, also how long have you had it.

I have never been able to understand why owners leave it until the last minute to register their whippet ,especially if they want to run it at any BWRA events.

Considering the reigistration fee for a whippet is £5 for life, this isn't expensive so even if the whippet doesn't make the standard that the owner expects it isn't a lot to forfeit.

On a brighter note Morris, there will be lots of other races that you can enter your dog into for both the NNWRF and the BWRA.

Good luck for the future

i did not register him earlier cos i did not know if he was going to be used for the bwra.....and regarding the name. i did ask denise bailey, and she did not object to the name.. any way i thought it was names used by registerd dogs, not dogs that have being dead nearly half a centuary.

also the agm is supposed to be at the end off the year is it not? then the bwra rule book needs re writing, telling people that you can register from january 1st..until the end off september...

AND I DID TRY TO REGISTER HIM BEFORE THE 31ST OFF OCTOBER, SO WHAT HAPPEND TO RULE 5?

Glad you were able to run regardless Maurice.

Don't talk to me about registering them. Me & Lyn had a right little nightmare when i was naming my pups i wanted Close Shave (Gillette - you get my drift...) & the other one Stardust (his pet name's Ziggy) both had already been used, the first registered in 1982. Then i decided on Maid Your Point (to follow on from mum Taylor Maid) couldn't have that as Maid is prefexed (Elaine we never did have the scrap over that  ) so decided sod it i'm having it anyway and went for something similar. Jude runs solely as Major Point with the BWRA, i put up with it for the few BWRA events he runs in and for everything else he is Maid Your Point - easy enough for the majority of people to grasp.

Not sure about the dates but glad you have brought it to peoples attention incase anyone else is in the same boat.
