Hello UK dog owners! I am a PhD student at Queen's University Belfast researching exotic parasites in relation to the movement of pets in the UK. I would greatly appreciate you taking the time to complete our survey, run through ESCCAP UK&I (European Scientific Counsel Companion Animal Parasites UK and Ireland).

We would like to hear from you about your dog(s) and your thoughts on - and where it applies experience of - pet travel abroad. The survey is anonymous and will take about 5-10 minutes to complete. Thank you very much for your help!

Thank you for posting this - it looks very interesting. A couple of questions: (1) Does it only apply to travel to/from foreign countries, as opposed to travel within the UK? And (2) Can it be completed for dogs that are no longer with us? Mine sadly passed last year, and the time isn't right to consider another.

The survey overall is open to everyone in the UK but targeted towards dog owners as it relates to pet travel. Where it asks about trips this is specifically for trips to/from foreign countries rather than within the UK. However, you do not need to have travelled abroad with your dog to answer the majority of the survey.

I am so sorry to hear about your dog passing away. The survey does not require you to currently own a dog to answer questions relating to opinions on pet travel and we would really welcome this response. If you answer "no" to the question asking if you currently own a dog, it will still take you to the knowledge and opinion sections of the survey.

So in short, please do answer the survey and it will guide you through the relevant questions as you go - I hope this helps!
