Maybe it's just me but I'm a little overwhelmed with everyone from elsewhere and even with the same usernames, I'm getting confused because avatars are different etc.

Would it be overkill to have a quick intro thread all in one place with a little bit about ourselves - ideally with dog names because I remember them better than user names

I'll start:
I'm Penny's mom, some of you may also remember Bates :emoji_broken_heart:
Penny is a little swamprat terrier/chihuahua thing who helps me coach cross country in the summer & fall and keeps me outside on the trails in winter & spring. I try to help with dog stuff when I can, mostly training/behavior advice.

I'm not sure I like that idea. surely we should just integrate into the forum and bump into friends as we go, otherwise it starts to seem like a them and us

It's a difficult one. Some people can find forums a little cliquey, but that's natural as some people will have known each other for a long time and built a relationship. But of course we all aim to be friendly and welcoming to all newcomers, so it doesn't have to feel like us and them. Here we have the odd situation where it's the new members that all know each other and the regulars who need to get their heads around all these new names!

Maybe I should introduce me! My dog, Jasper, passed over three years ago now and I miss him every single day. He was my first dog, and though I had him from a pup, developed almost every issue under the sun despite me trying to do it by the (positive training) book. Hence I learnt a lot, mainly about guarding behaviour! But our bond was incredible, and we were practically telepathic at times.

I yearn for another sighthound, but I'm also loving the freedom of having lie-ins, being able to go wherever I want, and not worrying about all the things you have to worry about when you have a very easily triggered stresshound. Plus I have young grandchildren and the thought of managing another stresshead around them would give me grey hairs if they weren't already grey 🤣

Maybe as a compromise, when members who have joined from other forums post here, maybe for a little while they could say, for example, (known as XXXX on PF) somewhere in their post? Just until we get used to new names?
