What good carpet cleaners can you recommend?

I'm bringing Tazz home on Sunday and whilst she IS housetrained (she's ten months old now) I'm just thinking about keeping a tin or bottle of a good cleaner under the sink just in case of accidents :- "

Also do you have any good hints or tips on cleaning up any accidents?

I have a hoover wet and dry only use it for wet, (use the henry for normal hoovering)it is fab had it a few years now and it cleans very well

 I've just realised you mean the detergent thought you meant the machine thats what happens when you skim read posts :clown: oh well it might be useful to somebody

I have a Bissel carpet cleaner, they are very good, mine is an upright one.

I only have carpets upstairs now, but it was handy when the downstairs had carpets and young pups :b

I use Simple Solution dog odour and stain remover, they also do one for cats too and it is absoloutley brilliant, really does work first time!!! It's made by an American company and is available in Jollyes and Pets at Home,it's £4.99 for a litre bottle but you use sparingly and it lasts a good while.

BTW it is great for other household stains too like red wine, blood etc. ;)

^05 whippet, emmmmmmmmmm red wine and blood...sounds like my kind of party :D

Sorry OT Foxglove, I have found some foamy guff from the cheap... not 'proper chemists' Savers i think it is, does the trick of late, never one to scrimp me :b but its 99p and does the job...its the pet odour one (there are two kinds)...a blessing and curse the one I am on about, as must have something in that prevents the urge to go on the same spot...may be false economy...depends on how big yer house is! Though at 10 months, dont envisage much of a problem for you, just the norm...on waking out, after feeding out, sniffing round... etc, reckon you'll not have much of a problem.

All the best

Sheena

I also use Simple Solution. Found it good for all sorts of carpet stains, not just doggy ones!! Got mine at Pets at Home.

I have a Goblin wet and dry hoover and i use Vanish stain remover in it along with the simple solution which i add along with the vanish, the two together will remove vomit and runny poo stains from the palest of carpets without leaving a mark. (w00t)

Thanks Sheena - and everyone else too  I found a basic foam carpet cleaner under the sink whic I'd forgotten I had LOL But i'll invest in a 'proper' pet odour one too next time I'm passing a pet shop - just in case. :- "

I'm in a one-bedroomed flat but plan on (as i've always done with my dogs in the past) taking Taz out first thing as soon as I get up, after meals and at regular intervals during the day anyway. My friend has assured me that she's never had any accidents in the time she's had her (six weeks) so I'm not going to worry about it :) If she DOES have any accidents it'll probably be MY fault for not seeing signs that she's giving me :b Certainly wouldn't scold her for it. Should be ok though...planning on having her out with me more times than she'll be in on her own anyway! :p
