Has anyone had a sucessfull operation on their dog?

One of my girls had cataracts removed from both eyes many many years ago.

It was a long recovery process but did give her back her sight for a few years. However the cataracts did come back at a later date & she did end up totally blind.

I think you have to weigh up the pro's & cons & most importantly how young/old is the dog in question & what is/will be their quality of life afterwards.
 
I have a dog who has glaucoma in one eye; originally we thought he had a cataract. I wish I'd gone to the specialist for the operation as it would have meant the dog getting properly diagnosed and treated sooner. Although my dog didn't ever have a cataract, I've read since that cataracts can interfere with eye drainage and lead to glaucoma. So if your dog is still fairly young, that's something you should look into.
