Ive been asked for a photo of the above dog and the only one I can find at present is the one in the whippet Champions book ,

I dont suppose anyone else has another picture ? , Im sure I have some where , as he is `Mayzees` Grandfather and I cant believe its the only one Ive got

(w00t) I am the one that ask for the photo of Firewolf and so many thanks for sharing it with us ...

I had many many many of him I did at Skokoloster years ago whn Per Iversen showed him there but when I moved to Portugal, all my stuff was lost and all my whippets books, photos and even everything I had are for ever gone ...

I love that dog and he is one of the reason I bought Betsi ...

Have managed to find this one from Dog World Annual, 1988.

Not a great picture technically, but a lovely piece of history.

Firewolf is my Murray's G.G. Grandsire, as is Beau Ranger

Couldn't find any in the biennials though :(

What a great heritage photo you have posted! It is so nice to see not just Firewolf, but especially and very importantly Beau Ranger, who was not much photographed, sadly, I am told, despite his influence on the breed through his progeny. I have previously read some Bobby James comments on the importance for the breed he believed Beau Ranger would bring but have never seen a photo, other than the Ch. title one till now. Thank you for finding, and sharing, this slice of history with all of us.

Thanks Lanny - I think it's nice so see the less formal shots too.

I loved this picture because as soon as I saw Beau Ranger's face, I thought of my Murray (Alonza Conspiracy Theory for Dewerstone) immediately. He is a descendant of both Beau Ranger and Firewolf.

I have attached a pic so you can see the likeness (well, I can see it anyway :)) )

Louise

PS, forgive tha poor quality of the image!

I think Im right in saying that Firewolf and Beau Ranger , are full brothers , but from different matings ,

Anne also did a 3rd repeat and I had a dog off her who was very similar in markings to Beau , but I only had a him a week as he didnt have all his tackle (w00t) :( and it was to be my first show dog and OH said NO MORE PETS ( I already have 4 retired greyhounds )

I took Thomas back as Anne had a super pet home waiting and came home with Simon ( Director of Dondelayo ) IT was a very hard decision as even though Id only had him a week I loved him :( , but my limit was 5 dogs ( at the time :- " ;) )

I knew Id got another picture and that it was with my old Simon  Here they are at Birmingham City Sept 1987 . Limit dog , Ann won the class plus CC and Simon was 4th out of a good class of 17 .

Ann liked to stand next to Simon and I as they were of a similar size :- "

There must have been four litters born to Wellnigh Beaubelles x Ch Samarkands Subaru.

The first, born 11 2 83 contained Ch Dyanne Dondealyo

The second, born 24 4 84 contained Beau Ranger who won 12 CC's

The third, born 8 12 1985 contained Firewolf

Jax, was your boy from any of these, or did they repeat it a fourth time?

Tom Horner - Take Them Round Please - Blimey JAX you must be right age remembering Tom Horner, Anne Knight, Bobby James - you'll mention Joe Braddon next :huggles:

Looking at the dates from Louise' post it is 20 years ago - seems like yesterday

EDITED:

Just looked up Tom Horner's book on amazon.com $150

I think Thomas must have been in a litter inbetween , With Anne you only got to see the ones she consided show quality , he was the same colouring as Beau , Im sure ive pictures of him , but where, is anyones guess

Of course I remember Joe Braddon . Just wished I was a little girl when I showed under him :- "

The best was Ben Raven . Id been told he had a habit of not watching you move (w00t) so when I showed Simon , I did the first part of the `up and `down ` stopped at the top turned around , saw he wasnt looking and waited

He eventually turned to see what i was doing and I shouted `Are you ready now  ¬ I got a positive reply and moved back towards him ;)

I was such a novice think I went in 3 classes , but guess what  I got placed in all of them

They dont makum like that nowadays ( or do they ;) )

The first time I ever stewarded was for GSD's at Paignton, must have been '87 or '88. (Yes, I was thrown in at the deep end, and shepherds got bloody huge entries back then too). I had my stewards lunch in the marquee and sat at a table with lots of old folk of which I knew none at all. I just sat there and ate my potato salad (that was the best potato salad I have ever had!), nodded politely and kept my gob shut. (I was about 15 at the time) Well, apparently, one of them was Joe Braddon, and that's the only time I ever met him and I didn't even know it!!!
