Hi all,

well I think you all know my Chance by now, she's the most loving dog ever!

I do however have a problem with her, it started when Binx first came, she's gone really protective of her food bowl!

she lets Indi eat out of it, walk by it, sniff it and everything, as soon as binx goes near it she growls

she will let me, kids, hubby put our hands into the food, remove the bowl, mess with it etc...

but as soon as Binx is anywhere near it she growls, this is the first time I have ever heard her growl, and it was quite a shock  !

any help on how to resolve this please  ?

Sorry Tina I haven't really got advice but in my experience of food, Callie and sienna eat from the same dish even if I put it seperate they will eat one then the other and now will let Spry in which I was very surprised about, BUT if they have a treat or something like that Callie and Sienna will not let each other near it and growl at each other if they try, maybe it's trust thing Chance knows Indi well but Binx is competition

If it was happening here I wouldn't consider it a problem. She's just telling a puppy that it can't steal food from her. That's she's boss over Binx. It's a rules thing.

I don't want my puppies eating my adults food and visa versa so it helps me.

Thanks Les and Babara,

I suppose it's a good thing to stop Binx eating adult food anyway, I've just never seen her growl or be possesive over food before so it shocked me!

i agree with beejay-let theme sort it out themselves-puppy needs to learn its place-and i dont think it will take long to learn :- " :- "

Yep I agree with the other's .......It's just a way of proving who the boss is ......They'll sort it out themselve's and Binx will learn his place :)

Callie and sienna are on Hills science diet dried puppy as recommended by vet for callies skin and even though we got puppy meat and small bite mixer for Spry she still likes to have a bit of the big girls food and they don't mind a bit,I've read the bag and it's okay from 6 weeks on so it's okay for her, I think trying to stop her would be the hard part (w00t) she likes her grub
