i think its saturday night???be nice to see whippets on the telly.

The whippets that run at the Stow will more than likely be from Harvel & Stanborough Pedigree Whippet Racing Clubs they normaly provide the runners for the injured jockey fund meeting (Saturday Night) there will also be Shetland Pony Racing & Afgan racing as well as the Whippets/Greyhounds.

yeah i think your right there mark but was it this sat the jockeys fund charity race meet it;s odd romford will let our non peds run and a lot of the other tracks wont i sorted a charity meet with harlow rgt and they pulled out at last min by saying the ngrc will not allow us there. and when its for the rgt you think they would be pleased of the help; or are they going to put in the cash themself;s  i dont think so.

Hi Tony.

yep the Jokey club night is This Saturday.

NGRC tracks have to get special dispensation from the NGRC to hold anything other than Greyhounds racing on the tracks.

thanks for replying mark yah i was told something on them lines but when you think your trying to help its a bit down hearting you think wont bother next time but we do lol

I Agree with you David, but the question must be ask, "what would the NGRC gain by doing so" The sight of our smaller dogs doing faster times than some of their greyhounds would not be seen as a good advert for their cause, although i am sure the bookies would make a meal of the racing, but as a one off for a charity race, i think some track owners would readily agree to some whippet racing, or some other sight hound racing.

The NGRC set certain standards for a track to be able to race under the NGRC banner and if one of the standards says no cross contamination with other types of dogs then the track owners have to abide by its rules, or risk being thrown out of the NGRC. If the NGRC have given that track its blessing to hold a mixed meeting then all well and good. Maybe not all tracks have or even want to apply to let other than greyhounds race at their track. Whippets are not welcome everywhere, nor are whippet owners.

Racing Whippets at NGRC tracks, in an ideal world would be great, but with so many rules and regulations regarding the keeping of Greyhounds and the cost involved with meeting NGRC's needs and licencing i would doubt if many whippet racers would bother as the same would have to apply with whippets. Also it would make the cost of decent whippet racers rocket, after all whippet racing is 'the poor mans alternative'.

Regarding racing at Charity Bashes, i think that once every so often this should be allowed, it would be fun and also promote Whippet Racing, which i have found to be more popular than i ever imagined.

Having been in greyhound racing for 16 years now, i am turning my back somewhat as its all pay out pay out pay out and rules rules rules. Whippet racing IMO seems more friendly (even though there seems a lot of spats on here!!) and whippet owners are more concerned on the welfare of the dogs rather than what can be made out of the bookies, all in all its more fun than money orientated.

One more thing.....Greyhound owners dont dislike whippet owners as i would say a large percentage of greyhound owners also own whippets or started their racing careers with whippets, and that includes a lot of the top greyhound trainers.

but like you lolcoe im into greyhounds as well have dogs at the mo in ireland and a litter of pups as well as for the keeping of whippets seperate from greyhounds in the kennel area last meet we done i ours were kept in our cars till the race but when you try to help them out at any charity event the ngrc dont wont to know and im not asking to run on every card just the odd charity meet anyone like to respond from the ngrc if your looking in. its for charity nothing being gained running for fun

greyhound or whippet they are both sight hounds so how can it be cross breeds. in my eyes whippets are explosive in there performance and great to watch.as said previously it would be nice to have our dogs run at the better tracks.when you have champs to give them a quility. the fa vase was played at wembley, if you get where i am coming from.

Lets see who is on channel 425 tonight, who is usually the guest on a Thursday?

The NGRC are notorious for being arseholes and like The Kennel Club, like to make money out of people and i cant see them bending rules unless a major fuss was made.

As with anything in this life, its a case of 'he who shouts loudest'. Lets get our voices heard on 425 and aim for more whippet exposure at Charity Events countrywide and the use of quality NGRC tracks for Champs etc. Im sure people from the NGRC will be viewing most nights so lets start e-mailing tonight and get these valid points across

they wont let you whiipet folk race with the ngrc greyhounds cos its drug free racing,LOL :D :D

So it was you who gave me that coldsore then  Did you catch it off one of those senoritas, when you were in Spain? lol

The S.E. WRC race at Romford NGRC track every year on their Charity Evening. This year we raced on behalf of the Romford Owners Greyhound Association for the re-homing of Retired Greyhounds the race was brilliant with Silver Lady just holding off Seven Eleven. The evening celebrated the re-homing of their 1000th Greyhound and the presentation was done by Vicki Michelle of Hello, Hello.

The meeting was held on a Saturday evening, they put our race on between 8.45 and 9 o,clock so that the Stadium is full and the children and adults love it.

Nice one Sheila a worthy cause and well done to all the racers espesially silver lady one of my offsprings
