CHELSEA
Chelsea is a 2 year old black greyhound girl. She is quite petite for a greyhound, and will be a lovely little gem once her coat gains some condition.
Chelsea is a lively girl, bursting with energy and we think she’s going to LOVE discovering what toys are all about. She hasn't seen much of the world outside of kennels, sadly, so new owners will need to be understanding during her settling in period for the first few weeks. Once she settles in however, she’s going to be a lovable little clown. Chelsea gets on well with the other greyhounds, and adores getting fussed by her people.
**UPDATE: JULY 2010**
Chelsea is now in foster care and is settling in very well. She is a very happy-go-lucky girl and is loving checking out everything in the house to see what it’s for!
Chelsea went to the beach recently and behaved very well when meeting other dogs and people. She is going to be a really smashing pet for someone. We will update with her progress once she has settled in to her foster home a bit more.
**UPDATE: AUGUST 2010**
Chelsea is settling in very well in her foster home and is proving to be the perfect house guest. She is a friendly, bouncy, affectionate little girl who is a joy to be around. She is the type of dog that loves to love life, and is a real mood lifter. You can’t help but smile at her big happy face and playful antics.
Chelsea walks well on the lead, though is happiest at a fast pace rather than ambling along. She is now housetrained and sleeps through the night without any problems. Chelsea is a confident little lass and as such can be left alone without a bother. She has been left completely alone for 45 mins and didn’t mind a bit, and with a bit of work she maybe suitable to live as an only dog. She also travels well in the car and can be left alone in it for short periods.
Chelsea does love the company of other dogs, however, and would also do very well in a home with another, young, like-minded dog to play her game. She can get a bit excited and vocal out on walks if she doesn’t get to meet dogs passing by, but this is being worked on daily with her fosterers. If she is taken to the side and distracted, she soon settles down and this behaviour will only improve with time. She is not cat friendly, but if meeting them out on walks she is controllable and will ignore them on command if you have a tasty treat.
As Chelsea can be a bit bouncy and sometimes boisterous when playing, we feel a home with very young children might not be suitable as she may knock them over. She is fine with older children, however, and would make a lovely playful family pet.
With a bit of instruction and firm manners training, this girl is going to be a pure delight to own. She is well balanced and responsive to basic commands, making training her a fun and productive experience. Chelsea is young, vibrant and well suited to a range of home types.
**UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 2010**
Dear Chelsea is still waiting for her forever home, but is very happy and contented in her foster home while she waits! She is coming along brilliantly and has good solid manners in the home. She can now be left with other dogs for company for 4-5 hours with no trouble, and is generally a very well behaved little girl.
Chelsea, though very mannerly, also has a little cheeky side that keeps you on your toes! She loves to play and bounce around in the morning, then is content to snooze the evening away. Her bouncy exuberance can still make her over excited when meeting other dogs out on walks, but when she is given time to calm down she then behaves very well with them. Chelsea is also a bit of a ‘talker’ and likes to tell you when she wants something. She is the type of girl that, if given an inch, would gladly take a mile and so needs a certain degree of structure in her home for her to really flourish.
This darling girl is most definitely ready for her forever home, and is sure to make a fantastic pet. She is full of laughs and keeps her fosterers entertained with her antics on a daily basis. She always has a waggy tail for you and is a real little mood lifter.
Little Chelsea is currently in a foster home in Norfolk, UK. She is neutered, vaccinated and microchipped and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
