poor Annie back in vets overnight on a drip diagnosed with diabetes she's being started on insulin injections this morning twice daily which I'm going to have to do when she comes home (not looking forward to that )

Was wondering if anyone else has had a dog with this problem and what the prognosis was for her she's 10 years old

hope she's ok linda :luck:

never had any dog with diabetes so can't help but good luck :luck:

iam having probs with becky ( paloma) drinking a lot and can't get weight on her as you know.

had blood tests and can't find anything that could be making her drink loads of water .

How is she this morning linda, kev & georgina's mimic got diabetes think she was on 2 injections a day and speical food from vets

Keep us informed on how annie is

she's still in vets spoke to the nurse earlier she settled down and had a comfortable night and ate some food (she's never been known to refuse food anyhow) waiting for vet to ring me back just wish they would hurry up can't concentrate on my work till I get her home

Sorry you got problems also Linda its like everything in your favor going against you isn't it

Hope things work out ok --

Steve

Think one of Shiela Copleys dogs had to have an insulin injection everyday, she may well be able to give you some info.

just had a call from vet theyre not letting her home yet theyve not been able to get a urine sample from her today. got to ring back at 4pm see how things are going :( This has been one of the longest days of my life

getting the balance ,blood sugar to insulin.my wife pricks her finger should be around 7 on the meter she uses that a person not a dog??????????

hope you get her sorted.

Just wondering what cost daily insulin injections are?

Mimic from age 2?

Karen

they have managed to get a sample but all isn't well at present so she has to stay in vets again tonight going to go and visit her now not sure if its best thing or not but I need to

sorr to hear this, hope all goes well & she gets better soon :luck:

Poor Annie she must wonder what the hell's going on :(

Hope things pick up soon for her, there nothing worse than having one stay at the vets, you feel like you've lost a limb.

my dog had very low sugar level and became a slave to food or she would fall into a coma. despite having an operation on the pancreatis which cost a grand she improved for a couple of months sadly it came back and it was kinder to put her to sleep. still miss her dreadfully

went to see Annie last night wasn't prepared for the shock I got, she looks so ill rang up at 10pm and they had managed to get another sample the levels have come down slightly but there's a long way to go yet got to ring at 10am for an update

Don't know what the cost of insulin is Steve she's on 2 injections a day its costing just under £150 a day at present while she is in the vets, but she's worth every penny and more

Poor Tilly is lost without her mum they've never been apart

:( Hope everything works out for her :huggles: get well soon :huggles:
