CHUNKY

Chunky is a 3 year old greyhound fella. He is a big black boy with a very pretty face. His coat is in poor condition at the moment, and is quite thin and patchy in places. This will improve, however, now that he is on a good quality food and soft bedding.

Chunky is a very easy going dog, and is a pleasure to look after in the kennels. He is always happy to see people and has a big waggy tail when he knows its time for his walks. He has been no trouble with our other greyhounds, and is generally a no-hassle kind of fellow.

Chunky has spent his last 3 years in racing kennels, so adopters will need to give him a bit of time in the first couple of weeks after adoption to allow him to settle in to the completely foreign home environment. Greyhounds generally adapt very well to this change, and usually have mastered housetraining and the basic house rules after 2-3 weeks. He is not cat friendly.

**UPDATE: AUGUST 2010**

Chunky has now travelled across to the UK where he waits for is forever home. He is a gorgeous dog with a huge personality that earned him the nickname ‘Chunky Monkey’ in the kennels!

Chunky is bursting with fun and loves playing both with toys and other dogs. He gets on well with other dogs, walks well on the lead, and loves to sleep upside down on his back! He is sure to bring a barrel of laughs to whomever decides to adopt him. We’re sure you wont regret it!

**UPDATE: AUGUST 2010b**

Lucky Chunky is now in foster care and is lapping up his newfound comforts. It is his first time in a home and he is very curious about everything, but is fast learning the house rules. We will update with his progress once he settles a bit more.

Chunky recently came along to the Cromer carnival in Norfolk, where he met lots of people and dogs of all shapes and sizes and helped promote greyhound welfare. He was a very mannerly boy and greeted everyone with a big waggy tail. He is also small dog friendly, though can not live with cats. ( he is the first dog on the left in this group photo)

**UPDATE: SEPTEMBER 2010**

Chunky is doing very well in his foster home and has settled in beautifully. He gets on very well with the two resident greyhounds, and is fast learning to relax. He seems to love finding the most awkward of positions to sleep in!

Chunky is now housetrained, non-destructive and is ok to be left with other dogs for company. He enjoys playing and mooching with his new greyhound friends, and is an all-round star.

**UPDATE: NOVEMBER 2010**

The lovely Chunky Monster has been in his foster home for 8 weeks now and has become very settled and content. He is a lovely friendly, affectionate boy who his fosterer’s say is a joy to have in their home. He is intelligent, curious and now becoming more playful as he gets more confidence in his home. He absolutely adores having his chin and neck scratched, so much so that he almost goes into a trance!

Chunky is perfectly behaved in the home, and knows his manners. He is fully housetrained (only ever had one accident), non-destructive, quiet through the night, ok to be left with other dogs during the day and is now familiar with the sights and sounds of a home environment e.g. the Hoover. He is an obedient boy and picks up on commands quickly, making training him very enjoyable. Though he loves his food, he will wait his turn at meal times and doesn’t counter surf.

Out and about, Chunky is also generally a very easy going boy. He walks very well on the lead and rarely pulls. As his fosterer lives in an area where there aren’t many other dogs around, when he sees one out on walks he is very curious about them. He has not shown any aggression, however, and this slight fixation upon seeing other dogs will decrease if he goes to a home where meeting other dogs is a common occurrence. If the other dogs are greyhound-shaped, he is perfectly behaved with them and really enjoys their company. He is not cat friendly.

Chunky is a delightful lad and whoever becomes his forever family are going to be in for a real treat. He would be best suited to a home with other dogs for company as he is very much a follower and is not used to being left completely alone. He is currently sharing his home with 2 other greyhounds and he has learned a lot from following them around the house. He has been good with the other children he has met, and is in general a very good natured, chilled out dog who is a dream to have.

Anyone interested in the lovely Chunky are welcome to come and visit him in his foster home to get a better idea of his personality.
