Hi,

I've not asked a question for a while, so here goes....

I've started putting my dog in the boot of the car behind the rear seats as he was starting to bark at almost everything when on the back seat (tethered, but with freedom to move). So we went for a trip yesterday, about 45 minutes with him in the boot space of the car. He has his bed in there, and I sprayed some Adaptil around in advance of the trip and his behavior was mostly great. When we slow or stop in traffic he gets up and looks around, putting his front paws up on the plastic insides of the vehicle (when we're moving, he generally sits or lies down in his bed in the boot). When we got to our destination, we got him out and and he had a run around in an enclosed field for a while and was fine, but we noticed a claw in on the floor of the boot. We haven't discovered which paw its come from and our dog isn't showing signs of pain or discomfort as far as we can see - his behaviour is "normal". The question is, should I be worried? Is a trip to the vet in order? Do claws grow back? OK, that's three questions, sorry and I guess the claws do grow back but thought I'd ask all the same.

Thanks very much in advance :)

Don't fret. It's like us breaking a mail. If it breaks too far down it can be painful and you would have seen blood (a LOT of blood) but it sounds like it's just the dead end he has broken.

Thank you again. There was no blood but it was a large piece of curved claw.

Sounds like one of his dew claws then. My boy broke one of his a couple of weeks ago but he was a bit of a drama llama about it!
