Went to an agility show today, up at 5.45am -_- . Had three classes and did nothing in two of them but in the last class of the day out of an entry of 242 dogs me & Hebe came 10th :D

Most of the dogs were border collies as usual so thats not at all bad for a 6yr old lurcher  My girl

She's flat out now on the settee -_-

Well done Hebe, what a little star!!!

Thats fantastic, well done  , do you have any pictures from the show ?

We took Scrumpy pup in to get her used to the atmosphere cos she'll be doing this in 12months time. She loves all other dogs & people. Guess which dog decided to nearly take her nose off???? A bloody collie

This woman let her dog come right up to Scrumpy(on lead) & as her dog was sniffing my giddy pup, she says," now be nice , Meg" & with that Meg snapped at Hebe. Luckily I saw the lip curl up & pulled Scrumpy away in time but it upset her.

Its the sort of thing that could really put her off going to shows

Didnt take the camera  so no pics, did get some video clips but dont know how to get stills off it onto here :b

WELL DONE HEBE- you show those collies

Congratulations Hebe on a great result!

Well done Hebe. What a result. Your Mum is right to be proud.

Having spoken to her last weekend (Julie that is) it was a pleasure to hear all about agility. It's always nice to talk to someone who is clearly enthusiastic about something they love doing. I felt quite inspired, except my two would be absolutely useless at it. I set up a broom across two buckets in our front garden once and Stan just ran away frightenend. He's frightenend of anything unusual these days

Good luck with Scrumpy too...hope the collie didn't put her off.

Well done

I've never taken a proper interest in agility but always wondered why there we'rnt more lurchers in it (to my mind a colliexgrey would have an advantage over a collie)...can somebody in the know explain please? Thanks in anticipation of your answer/s

Well done it took me 3 years to get my lurch clear. I take it you were at Newton heath on saturday. Do you run in starters or novice.?

I think that when people want to do agility they automatically think border collie but lurchers are just as good,if not better  . 80% of agility dogs seem to be collies. IMO they are "programmed" whereas lurchers(well mine at least) will think for herself, not always a good thing (w00t) People seem to think that collies are the only breed to get & that they come ready trained but give me a lurcher anyday. Gina off K9 runs a lurcher league within the agility circuit & has about 50 members 2 advanced (very good). Last year Hebe won the starter section :)

Yes we were at N. Heath, we are still in starters but everyone seems to think it wont be long before we win out, we've had a third & quite a few 4th & 5th places so heres hoping for this year, shes 6 now so its probably now or never

J.T. Is being a little coy you know folks! Her girl also sailed round Westhoughton in the lurcher racing today!! She certainly is one talented dog!

 JT, see that's what I figured...that the traditional lurcher would have the edge on speed and agility over a straight collie, so could'nt understand the predominant preference for collies.

Jackie, thanks for the brilliant picture. Better than my blurred efforts, It really shows her at full stride, lovely.

BTW she also does flyball.... is there no end to her talents. But right now sleeping is what she does best, she's had a busy weekend -_-

Well done Julie and Hebe yes i'm sure you will be winning out of starters very soon... Here's some pics of Hebe in action apologies if they have been posted before Julie ;)
