a couple I've heard of are Far Call, Pistol Dawn (instead of Knight). Another, not a racing name, but I have a hat badge which says the Piston Broke club.

Years ago when I was just a kid we used to have 'world championship wresting' on the TV. The referees name was Michael Hunt. His name was often shortened to Mike until someone twigged. :b  True!!!

Pistol Knight and Piston Broke were two I've had in my book for a while. I think Norfolk Enchants and Fog in Hell are very clever!

Oh, poor man. You really have to think hard before you name you kids. :D :D

Hattie's ears were burning - and now I found out why!

Well as I am keeping one of Lisa's pups I shall putting my over-taxed greymatter to the test again soon. There's a tradition to keep up you know :)

Ok - I confess to having already been thinking about names but so far inspiration has avoided me like the plague!

You'll have to think of a pet name first Ian before you can come up with one of your clever racing names. Let us know what it is when you have decided which one you're keeping. ;)

how about the little welsh bitch called nowinaminute.

One of our whippet peps Molly Head (Demerlay) has a husband called Richard !! Honest , he`s a nice guy too!!

Well I have yet to choose a racing name for the puppy that is currently known as Frankie - but I came up with one for the fawn dog.

Unfortunately its a KC name only, as the new owners will give Sam his racing name (undoubtedly Half a something!)

And no - I'm not going to reveal it yet - in case it gets turned down :)

Two I have saved are, (Welsh) Blod Y El (Call name Elle) and Fur Nack Ed (call name Ed.)

Just heard of another. I don't think it's all that clever but I am amazed it ever got accepted. Another whippet person (Rowenbrae) told me he heard on the racing channel, they were reading out the scratchings & (I'm guessing the spelling here) Far Queue was scratched. Now how would you call that without getting yourself into trouble  :b

BIG JENNY TAYLOR !!!!!

One of my greys who was sent away as a brood bitch was Bitter 'n' Twisted, but she was nowt like it

Would anyone like to list any other clever names that are around at present ( or from the past).I had sort of decided on names for my current litter but I am always open to suggestions and ideas if people are willing to pass them on!
I've attached the list of 'Names suitable for a Whippet' from the Whippet and Race Dog - the book is from 1895 so you may find some of the names a little odd : :teehee:

Just tried to get this link, but it seems the file has disappeared. Do you still have it Nigel?

Thanks

Tracy
