Muffin had conjunctivitis all last week and we gave him eye drops from the vets for 7 days as instructed. It seemed to clear up but I notice his eyes are getting red again. Does anyone know how long it would normally take to clear up? Maybe we should have kept going with the eye drops. We're thinking of resuming the drops as we still have some left (they can be used for up to a month after opening) or do you think I ought to take him straight back to the vets? There is no discharge this time but they are definitely turning red again. :( Any help gratefully received!

If in doubt, i would be straight back to your vets

Annie got conjunctivitis a while back. The vet gave me Fucithalmic in a tube.

It cleared it almost straight away.

Go back to your vet and they will give you something stronger to knock it on the head.

Use some more of the drops,if you have enough use them for a further five days.

I just had the exact same scenario with my beagle and used drops for a week initially then after a week his eyes looked manky again so i used the drops for a further five days. He has been clear for the past month.

Wierdly enough my boxer bitch now has conjunctivitis and has the same type of drops called Maxitrol, they are working for her too, she is on day three of a week long course.hth :)

Just hope none of my whippet people catch it off her

 Thanks for that. I was hoping somebody had had a similar thing happen. I think I have enough for 5 more days, but will keep a close watch on his eyes as well. They're not as red as they were before, and Muffin is perfectly 'normal' :- " in every other way so I'm not overly concerned just yet. We couldn't get over how easy it was to give Muffin his eyedrops - he saw the tube and immediately came and sat between us on the settee so we could put them in - such an angel! o:) o:) :huggles:
