A topic on lurcher showing please as I'm sure there are lots of peeps on here who show there lurchers, and also it would be great for newbies like me to get some show tips too :D and to find out where the lurcher shows are being held.

Do you want a new forum on lurchers or lurcher showing? If not you could start a new topic in general discussion dogs or maybe in the showing forum. Problem might be is that people won't be able to find it.

Actually I'd start by posting in showing because it's all very similar. ie showing is showing is showing. Don't put lurchers on a table though and I agree that it would be best to get some advice off people who've done it themselves. I don't know anyone who shows lurchers on a regular basis and who wins who is on here though or actually is on the internet. Doesn't mean that there isn't anyone.

Stark or Mark Roberts might be able to help.

I'd start by going to some lurcher shows and watching how it's done and also some companion/fun shows. If you feel like having a go then just go into the ring and do it.

Oh and the Countryman's Weekly is the mag that you need at the back is a list of up and coming lurcher and terrier shows.

A general discussion on showing lurchers would be great! I've taken my little yorkie to compainion dogs shows before, but never won as he's a scruffy little bugger lol,

I do get the countrymans weekly too every friday, but haven't got the guts to goto any lurcher shows with Chance (have been to watch a couple and there really competitive, which scared me a little) yet as we both need some ringcraft lessons, which we start on Thursday :D

Hi Tina, I judge at Lurcher shows and show when I can. I have just bought a Bedlington/Whippet Pup. She is 5 months o;d now and I hope to catch the end of year shows with her.

Really really enjoy the lurcher shows they are so laid back compared to KC shows. It is a good social event. I quite often go on my own but you get to know other people really quickly as everyone likes to talk lurchers.

The racing is good fun and I like to watch the Long jump which is just amazing. The best show to go to each year is the Autumn exhibition at the East of England show ground at Peterborough. It is a great day out but unfortunately clashes with Driffield Champ show normally.

There is a huge number of Lurchers go to this show as well as all the livestock.

Anything else you want to know , just ask,Jan
