Country will come to Town tomorrow 20th April when horses & hounds, terriers & lurchers, gundogs, fly casters, falcons & ferrets and even Victorian street theatre and horse drawn vehicles will take over the Town Square in Newtownards to entertain the general public and give the media a preview of some of the country sports attractions that will be on offer at the Ballywalter Game & Country Fair planned for Ballywalter , Co Down on the 30th April and 1st May 2011. Everyone welcome!

Free Downloadable & printable programme of the event is now available on www.ballywaltergamefair.com

Would love to go tomorrow, but working, will definately be at Ballywalter Game and Country fair. Always 2 brilliant days out. I like to go and relax without dogs on the 1st day, the 30th April and get around the stands and find some good value for money, meet up with friends, have some thing to eat and maybe a little glass of wine. The 2nd day 1st May, we go there with our Whippets and lurchers for the much loved Dog show. The dog show is full of fun and competition and I love it and really look forward to it. See you all there.

Margaret,

Sorry you missed it. Just got the photos back - between 3 & 400 watched the displays ( 70 sat down to lunch in the Town Hall!) - lots of politicians there happy to photographed with the horse & hounds etc. Great displays from the flycasters; Eddie Dash, pony & trap; the gundogs and Tony Margaret & Rex with the ferrets. Very smart turnout of the North Down Hunt and the star of the show John Carmichael flying a hawk amidst gulls, a flock of feral pigeons and even a flight of homing pigeons and giving the politicians a falconry 'masterclass'. Hour long display very ably MC'd by Philip Lawton.

Got great coverage in the papers before and after the event.

Terriers were well represented by Matt Lee and his father 87 years young! Billy Craig & John Humpries had two smashing lurchers and were the first to put on a Master Mc Grath Qualifiers cap - had a big job to get it back from John - told him would have to win one! All was missing was an attractive blonde with whippets!

It looks like a great day was had by all Albert at the Country Comes To Town in Ards town square. I was sorry we missed it , but working commitments took over with John and myself. I am so glad the day was such a success, and I know next week at Ballywalter Game and Country Fair will be even better. I had the pleasure last week end Albert of being introduced to Matt Lees father at the " The Sporting Whippet Club NI at Dunsilly. What a wonderful man for his years and a great conversationilst. Love the Photograph. The Master Mc Graths Caps are very nice, a brilliant tribute to the mighty Master Mc Grath and very well modelled by the 3 people wearing them. From a womans point of view, John and Bill look dead sexy in them. Looking forward to the fun and competition next week end.

Margaret,

Larry Lee is great for his age and still shooting. We have been friends for a very long time. The hounds got a great reception from both crowd and politicians and overall I feel the best defence for country sports is to let people see we are just normal folk like themselves who happen to like animals and working with them in the countryside.

We have a great show at Ballywalter this year with lots of new stands and attractions.

Albert
