I've been waiting for someone to mention Phil's party after the judging at Crufts. How did it go? Was he pleased with his gift? And what was his gift?

Referring to the topic of the dreaded MOP. I was lucky enough to return to England with my dogs & competed at Crufts 1993. My dog was trodden on & run over by trolleys 3 times between the entrance & the bench. He'd never seen so many people in his life before! I ended up carrying him everywhere & didn't take him anywhere near the trade stands. I dread to think how many more people must now be cramming into those halls some 15 years later.

Here in Oz only our "Royal' shows are benched. The aisleways between the benches are wide with barracades in front of the benches so the MOP can walk along them & see the dogs but cannot touch them.

Gail.

i wasnt there but spoke to viv rainsbury ( very talented artist and proud to be a friend of ) who done a lovely painting for him , she also wanted to know if he was happy with it as she hadnt the time to stay around , i hope he was throughly spoilt and overwhelmed , he certainly deserves it

i like the sound of the overseas way of dealing with mop

I apologise for the delay in letting everyone know how it all went. I think that Phil was very touched by the whole thing, I'm pretty certain that Tina was, their eldest son was there as well. A BIG thank-you to all who donated and signed the beautiful card kindly designed and donated by Elaine Crooks. For those who do not know Viv Rainesbury painted the most beautiful picture of Fergal with his two Crufts BIS winning son and granddaughter, Dutch and Dee Dee, I think that Phil did have a moment when he read the inscription but recovered enough to invite everyone to join him in the bar.

Did Viv take a photo of the painting so we can all see what it looked like ?

I think Phil has only the one son - Justin.

There are (were) some photos of the presentation on one of the links of Crufts photos showing three dogs H. Fergal - Dutch Gold (appropriately the picture was presented by Morag) but we didn't know the third was DeeDee though.
