DAISY
Daisy is a retired racing greyhound who is around 6 years old. She has a pretty, unusual coat that is white with brown patches and some black (with some distinguished silver trim!) on her face. She is in good condition and her coat is feather-soft.
Daisy is a very sweet dog with a calm demeanor and adores getting attention from her people. She is used to being handled, travels well and walks nicely on the lead. She has not yet been with us long so we are still getting to know her personality, but so far she is proving to be a very easy going girl. Her racing days are now just a memory and she is looking for a kind person to create a new life with.
Dear Daisy has not yet experienced the joys of a home environment, so new owners will need to be understanding for the first couple of weeks and allow her to settle in. She has not yet been tested with smaller dogs or cats, but these can be carried out prior to adoption if needed.
Daisy is sharing her kennel with her sister Maisy, another white and black older girl, and together they make a lovely matching pair who get on very well. Though Daisy can be homed on her own, if someone is looking for a matching pair of greyhounds, you wont find a better pair than Daisy and Maisy!
Daisy is currently in kennels in Ireland, and can be transported via Kerry Greyhounds to the UK or Europe if a suitable home offer comes up. This will be organised and paid for by Kerry Greyhounds, and we ask only for a donation to help cover costs. She is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
**UPDATE 07/2010**
Lovely Daisy was lucky enough to partake in the Kerry Greyhound Connection annual Jamboree in Kerry recently. She behaved brilliantly amongst all the crowds of people, children and other dogs and didn’t put a paw out of line.
Daisy was calm and mannerly with everyone she met, human and canine and was also polite upon meeting the smaller dog breeds too. Like most greyhounds, Daisy does not need a huge amount of exercise. She is content with two 20 min walks a day and perhaps a chance to stretch her legs offlead in a secure area once or twice a week.
In general greyhounds are calm, mannerly dogs that are well used to being handled. They can fit very well in to a wide range of different lifestyles and usually adjust to the home life very quickly. Their soft, easy going nature often makes them ideal to live in a family with children, while their love of lazing around and low exercise requirements can make them perfect for the elderly. Greyhounds also don’t shed as much as some other breeds of dog and this can make them suitable to live with allergy sufferers.
Daisy is sure to make a gorgeous companion for whoever decides to open their hearts for her…. and maybe her sister Maisy too!
If you are interested in fostering or adopting Daisy, please email me on tamakin_84@yahoo.co.uk for our information pack and adoption questionnaire. Thanks!
~~ KERRY GREYHOUND CONNECTION ~~
Kerry Greyhound Connection is a small voluntary organisation based in County Kerry, Ireland and Norfolk, England and operates through a network of volunteers. We can look after approximately 50 greyhounds at any one time, in both Ireland and the UK.
Each dog is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and given a full veterinary check before being adopted.
We assess the suitability of all home offers, and we have homed greyhounds in Ireland, the UK, Europe and the USA. We work hard to match the right hound to the right home, and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
We can be contacted via PM or through any of the following:
