Back in the 60s,there was a dog named Danny Boy.Blue Peter was his grand sire.As you know,Danny is the name Kirsty gave her pup that came from Gary Farmer. In the greyhound world,if a dog had been dead for a certain number of year's,then a name become's available again. As this is the case with Danny Boy,who must be a good 30 year's dead at least.can she regester her pup with that name, even if it mean's putting the like's of Our,in front of it,or the number 2 behind it.We are thinking of regestering some of our pup's,and need to sort racing name's out. ...Billy...

if the old dog danny boy was registered with bwra, then you won,t be able to have it

if you pm Vicky she will let you know if its available with the NNWRF

This is the photo that she has put up on here room wall,so she will be disapionted.

There are no entries in the BWRA database for "Our Danny Boy" Billy so give it a go. If you contact Lyn Rowley the BWRA registrar (contact details on their website) Im sure she can advise you.

i notice some dogs with the same racing names on database

but they have a number at the end

i.e there,s 3 jack the lads,i.e slipper 1,,,slipper 2

why dont u put danny boy 2,,billy

and when it comes to the racing, ull dog will be known as danny boy,,,

not 100% sure but often wondered if thats how other owners got round it

I think the BWRA decision not to allow dogs to have the same name as an older one only came in around 2/3 years ago. Hence for example there being 3 Jack the Lad's, the latest one being 5yr (i.e before the ruling) and the other were obviously considerably older.

You'll also have to check that "our" isn't a Prefix with the BWRA. As far as I'm concerned personally it's a (I think) pro-noun of some description along with "his/hers/my/mine/theirs" etc.
