I am sorting through my whippet pics and came across this one of our first two whips bred by Mrs Norfolk of the Celerity prefix. She lived near Hemel Hempstead at the time. Does anyone here remember her or her breeding?

The pic is me, my then husband and first born (who is now 40 this year!) plus my Nan, now longer with us.

Dasha was a beautiful parti-colour dog who we had at 15 months and Dawn an 8 week old puppy. Both lived long, good lives.

Best wishes

There's some of her breeding on the Whippet Archives.

I haven't heard the name but im new to whippets :)

A great photo. Not a breeder I have heard of I'm afraid.

Hi Hannnah,

My first whippet came from Mrs Norfolk, a white a blue bitch, Celerity Mega, I traveled from Deptford to Hemel Hepstea on the train with my daughter who is now 44 and was in a push chair.

She went into Mastiffs. Now she lives in Cumbria. I wrote to her when she advertised a litter of whippets in Dog World about a year ago, may be longer. She had used or owned a Ninrodel from Mary Lowe.

What were your dogs sire and dam, mine was by Celerity Pluto, very closely bred, he mated is mother whose name I can't recall. My Meg was the brightest whippet I have ever had. After over 40 years in the breed I can still see her. Not a show dog, but a bright, intelligent little whippet who introduced me into the world of whippets. My daughter loved her, and all the other whippets who have followed, but none as bright as Meg Legs.

Wonderful memories :D

So that was a 70s picture! I have several of those too ....... I must dig them out

Off the top of my head the sire and dam were Scintilla Sweet William and Celerity Maid of Honour. We went on to add a brindle bitch pup from Garstan near Hemel - more coursing/racing type - I think the prefix was Garstang. Have to sort the papers out though...happy days eh?

Thanks for sharing! 8)

My little bitch was by Maid of Honour!!!!!!!!!!!

This is mostly for Bertha who will recognise the breeding. Dasha, Dawn and Tami (of Garstan prefix).

I have put on the back of one photo "these are my first 3 whippets all sadly gone now, but their presence in our lives has confirmed we will never be without one. 1969"

These were the days when whippets were small, small, small!!

Enjoy!!
