Is there anyone who uses or has used one to dry dog treats?

Ive just ordered one and I was hoping to dry chicken feet and strips of meat as treats for the boys. I just wondered if anyone else had tried it.

Im also planning to dry fruit for Basil the parrot and for ourselves.

Hopefully it works and the machine will pay for itself in savings.

I have one. I used it to make dried chicken strips out of local free-range chicken fillets and it worked really well. I think I had to let it run longer than the booklet suggested though (often overnight). I stopped out of laziness really, and the pain of Jasper getting all worked up while I spent ages trying to cut it into really thin slices. Dried banana and apple were good too.

It can get smelly when doing meat, even just chicken (drying liver spelt terrible!). I did it in the garage/utility room but you could still smell it a bit in the house.

I've never tried chicken feet - they may take longer as they're thicker, but then again they're pretty dry to start off with.

We borrowed one to make dry sweet potatoes, which were supposed to become long lasting chewy treats, but only last a couple of minutes....

I love mine but I only use it to dry herbs. I'm seriously thinking of getting a second one to dry foodstuffs.

When OH heard about the smelly bit he thought it might be a good idea to place it out on our roof terrace where our awful neighbour could enjoy the full effect!

Ok well we have our dehydrator now and its been working since it arrived.
Weve done aload of chicken feet which seem really good and took about 8 hours at 70c (tip clip the claws before drying) OH forgot with the first batch and clipping them when dry is like shooting bullets inside the house!

Now drying is chicken necks and that seems to be going well.
Next up is some fruit for Basil the parrot.
Next week bio garlic(for us) is on the list, the price in the shops is astronomical!
ps/ maybe its just me but I dont think its all that smelly at least not with chicken just smells like living next door to nandos!
