My dog has developed a rash in his groin area. Went to the vets who said it was contact dermatitis. But hard to pinpoint from what . He gave him some antibiotics...at a ridiculous price!... Is there anything I can put on it to alleviate the redness and soreness . I think it maybe caused by pollen from long grass as it only seems to flare up when he's been on the field . He lies on a duvet in the garden. It did calm down but has come up again after being on the field last night. It doesn't seem to bother him in any way it just looks sore. As he hasn't any fur underneath that's the only place he has the rash. The antibiotics don't seem to do much so any ideas on anything to help would be appreciated. We washed him with a sponge after he had been out today just with some cold water underneath in case it's pollen sticking to him. He has had flea treatment so it's not caused by fleas. :(

oh no! Poor little chap :(

i always put 100 per cent aloe vera gel on skin problems, me or the dog. Its very good and safe to be licked off. It helps to ease soreness, but i wouldn't put it on if the skin is broken. You can get it from health food shops.

Spongeing him off is a good idea, Its not nettle rash is it? I didn't realise dogs even noticed nettles till i sent my boy into a hedgerow once and nettled him good. I use a hot flannel on nettle stings,

good luck, pat pat for little homer, :)

The skin doesn't seem to be broken don't think it's nettle rash. Will check out the aloe Vera though thanks .have attached a piccie of him with my other half... Still a lazy boy. :D image.jpg
