Hi everyone,

Just a quick question. I have a fawn whippet bitch who up until quite recently had pale pink skin, but now it seems to be changing colour, its getting a lot darker almost purpley. Is this normal? It seems to have happened since we had her spayed  she is only 10 months old so could it just be changing with age?

Sorry if I sound a bit thick, just its my first whippet :b

1 of my dogs is a fawn whippet, in the summer his skin goes black, in the winter it goes pink, in the spring and autumn he is speckled, we're not scientists but we think it could be seasonal :- "

hope you are enjoying your dog :)

I've edited this to say that it doesn't happen to my brindle whippet - weird

Thanks for your reply, I can stop worrying now :teehee:

Are those two little dogs on your pic italian greyhounds? They are so cute

yes they are IGs, and they do LOOK cute, don't always behave as sweet as they look!

have a look on the IG bit, you'll see loads of these 'cute' little monsters

I've found most of the dogs I've ever had have had lovely pink tummies till they got close to a year old and the skin seems to darken up.

Don't worry - it's completely normal. One of my fawns goes almost black on the inside of her legs, and our boys dangly bits go darker too! (w00t)

We have a white and tea stained bitch, and her patches go darker, and the pigmentation around her eyes goes much darker, making her even more beautiful

It happens almost as soon as the sun starts shining in spring, and is just a change in pigment.
