Kennel Cough

Kennel cough is also known as infectious tracheobronchitis (it has also been called Bordetella). It is a highly contagious respiratory infection affecting the airways. Kennel cough is a difficult disease that is caused by a number of infectious agents including canine parainfluenza virus, canine adenovirus 2 and a bacteria called Bordetella bronchiseptica. Most dogs will have been vaccinated but its not the law to be vaccinated against it.

Symptoms:

Cough, usually a dry cough

Retching

White foamy fluid from the mouth

More serious signs:

Nose discharge

Tiredness

Loss of appetite

If you believe your dog has Kennel Cough go to your vet ASAP for treatment because this disease could be lethal. Kennel cough

I would add to the above, when you take your dog to the vet, leave it outside in your car and tell the reception. This way you can reduce the chances of passing it on to others in the waiting room.

My vet is by appointment so if you think (or he thinks) your dog may have something contagious he asks you to report to reception and then you get taken straight in via the other door..
