Pic of our Laika Angel and Muppy Puck at the end of a run in Holland. I wondered what they would do at the end of the race when the lure went sky-wards. I think they were confused.

Do you think this is the future in the UK?

I like the sand finish and I guess the idea of holding the lure up would save all of those nasty finishing pile ups (I've taught my younger lot to come straight off from the lure as its never worth the injuries), but I think the person holding the lure up may end up hospitalized at some stage (w00t)

ummm in theory it looks a good idea but in reality I cant see it working.

1/ you'd need a very confident person to stand there with 4/5 32lb whippets hurtling towards them all eager for the lure.

2/ your relying on the lure driver being able to stop the lure in almost the exact spot every time, to short and the dogs would still get the lure with somone with a big stick trying to stop them? too far and the stick would be ripped out of the persons hand assuming theres a hole in the stick that the line goes through whilst its pulled down the track?.

hope you had a good time on your travels

can i buy a ticket for if it ever happens when kanes racing (w00t)

It doesn't look like there's much run out either if they overshoot. I would think that there might be a few injuries from whippets jumping up and down too. Riley can still quite easily jump onto my shoulder at the age of 10 1/2 (w00t) Her would jump on that poor guy's shoulder and shinney up his arm to the lure, digging his claws in as he went

He's a brave man (w00t) Like Judy I'd be worried about my dogs jumping up and down - I've noticed if we throw anything for them in the field, they jump up without giving a thought to how they're going to land :- " I like the sand finish - I think it would be worth a try here, and I think some of the non peds use sand finish. Problem being, that most tracks are on public fields, and you'd have to dig a bit of a pit - wouldn't go down too well eh? (w00t) I imagine they could get sand burns or sand in their eyes though - but I'd have to reserve judgement until I'd seen it used, and our dogs had used it. Worth thinking about though.

Hope you're both enjoying your travels - have fun

 an accident waiting to happen if you ask me
