might sound a dumb question!

but im only used to a skinny whippet

who shivers at a breeze :teehee:

do lurchers wear coats in the winter?

mine is a rough coated grey/wheaton

would she need a coat for the colder months when out exercising?

Not dumb at all.

Phoebe, the blue below, feels the cold but the others are pretty immune. We put a coat on her for normal walks and after a run in the winter. Also she hates the rain so sometimes it's the only way we can get her out of the house.

I think you just need to follow your instinct and be prepared to use a coat if you think she needs it :)

My rough coated lurcher does not need a warm coat but wears a rain coat in really heavy rain

thanks

she does seem immune to the rain and wind etc

will play it by ear as the weather gets worse!

If you kennel your dog outside good idear to use kennel coats, esp this time of year

Dogs can lose weight trying to keep them selfs warm but we dont use them for walking out

But we dry all our dogs with a towel when we get back home

if they get wet . We allso allways use our coats before racing to keep heat in the dogs

Would you go out in the wet and cold with out a coat on?? :- I know i wouldnt.....therefore neither do my dogs.

If they are running then they do not wear one as they are keeping warm by working, other than that they have a coat on.

My smooth coated bitch has a fleece lined coat but my rough coated dog doesnt.

she isnt kept outside

usually we go out when its not raining

its more a coat for the cold weather, not the rain!

i just didnt know whether lurchers needed coats for the cold

when out for a walk.

im going to get her one similar to my whippet

and keep it for when the weather changes

in the next few months
