Because of Richard's job (vicar) we live in a vicarage, and so kept our own property in Shropshire when he went off to train. We have had good tenants there for 5 years but they've just told us they have bought their own house and will be moving out soon. ![Frown :( :(](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
But that does give us the opportunity to try something different. We could find new tenants but the kitchen needs doing up, which might be a bit difficult as we live a good distance away. We could sell and buy a property in Nottingham which we could let out to students at the Theological college we went too - the college acts as agents. That would quite likely leave us money over to buy a Camper van or even a canal boat! (w00t) The third option is to buy a cottage much nearer to where we are, let it as a holiday home for around 6 months of the year, and the rest of the time use it ourselves as an 'escape' from the parish on Richard's day off, or for a short break.
So I was just wondering if anyone has experience of running a holiday cottage and the pitfalls. It would be good if anyone has any tips out there. We are very much at the process of thinking things through and I thought it was worth asking on here.![Smile :) :)](data:image/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP///yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7)
