We are travelling right up to the north of Scotland (Thurso) for our holiday this year and were intending travelling all the way in one day - a 9 hour journey plus stops! (w00t) But we're now thinking it will be a lot easier to stay overnight somewhere in the Stirling/Perth area on the Friday (2nd July). So I was just wondering if anyone has any recommendations for a dog-friendly B&B in those areas. Thanks

Afraid I don't know of any specific B&Bs but don't think you should have any trouble finding one. There is a big stretch of road on the way into Stirling that almost every 2nd or 3rd house is a B&B i'm sure one of them will allow dogs, also im sure there are other ones about the area. Perth is lovely too and there are probably lots of nice ones there too. Good luck in finding one!

Thanks Sarah - I know there are a lot out there. We once stayed in a lovely farmhouse near Perth. The only problem I worry about is if the dogs need to go out in the middle of the night - it's not always easy if you're staying in a house or a hotel! Some places have nice ground floor rooms or annexes which are really good if you have dogs. I'm sure we'll find something suitable. :))

The Travelodge at Broxden Junction Services, Perth, is very good (especially if you book at a reduced rate when they're having their "special offers") but I think they now charge a certain amount per dog, per stay - cheap-ish if you're staying for a few nights, but not so cheap-ish if only a one night stay. Might be an additional £10 or £20 (ouch) - the Travelodge website will give details

Thanks Gill. I think we'll probably end up travelling on the day. We've done long journeys before - we'll start early and breakfast on the way, and take it easy with a couple more stops so it'll be OK. At least we're heading the right way for relatively traffic-free routes! My husband has a job application in which is interviewing the day before, so if he gets an interview we'll have no choice in the matter anyway! :-
