Hello

I am off to Tenby for the weekend, with 2 greyhounds who like to feel the sand between their toes. Does anyone know of any good beaches that allow dogs in the Tenby/Pembrokeshire area. Reasonably secure, preferably with steps down - so they can not leg it into the dunes in search of rabbits.

Many Thanks

There's a list of dog friendly beaches in FAQ, and some links to local authorities who list that kind of thing. Good luck. If you find some good ones then add to the FAQ thread because it's always useful to hear about a good dog friendly beach

Freshwater West isn't too far from Tenby and is fabulous - a huge beach with sand dunes behind it, great for dogs to have a run.

Pendine Sands is also good, when the tide is right you have 7 miles of sand (though some of it is MOD land, so you have to brave notices telling you not to jump up and down on unexploded shells etc). Dogs allowed all year round.

There's a list here which shows which beaches have dog restrictions in the summer, which might be useful: http://www.coastalcottages.co.uk/beachguide.asp
