hi i was wondering if anyone on this webby is a dog groomer. I am interested in it as a career and im just wanting to know if anyone has any advise or if they use dog groomers on a regular basis and have any comments etc on them!

I guess like with anything there are good groomers & bad!

There are people who advertise who do it from their homes, i have a friend who has a proper grooming room set up with all the equipment & she is great but i know when my mum originally looked for a groomer for her little toy poodle she found a lady advertised who did it from home & she wasnt happy at all with the result. :(

I actually looked into this as well as having the affies & my mum having her poodle i thought it would be a wise move :- "

Dezynadog run courses that you can book that are meant to be very good so i have heard.

I'm lucky that i have one of THE top groomers just down the road from me Anita Bax & she is brilliant, i now do my mums poodle myself & of course the affies

Lots of luck :luck: , let us know how you get on

Im a dog groomer, well part time, after my regular day job ! , I did a correspondence course with ICS, they are very good, and with the help from friends who were willing to let me loose on their dogs, I was able to get some hands on experience. Its been almost two years now, and I really enjoy it, getting to meet loads of different breeds, and temperaments ! PM me if you want more info

i remember anita bax from years and years ago,she was top groomer and groomer of the year ad infinitum.yes you are lucky nina shes one of the best if not the best

Thanks for all the replies. On the course i am doing at the moment we get to do grooming and our first lesson was a very scruffy looking working cocker spaniel and the after results were brilliant (the students just watched on this one :- " !) and it was then that i thought i think this is what i really want to do. So i was just hoping for an insight of how to get going etc. i have wrote to a groomer near me regarding doing a work placement with her so fingers crossed.
