Does anyone have passports for their dogs, I may have to go to France soon and would like to take Lily with me, is it expensive, complicated and does it take long to set up?

I lived in France for ten years and brought three dogs back with me in 2005 , the Pet Passport scheme was very complex back then , now I believe its easier and quicker too , best thing to do is go to the web site for DEFRA , they have all the information you need on there, hope you enjoy your trip !

Getting a passport for your dog is a breeze nowadays and so is travelling with them - I got my wee man a passport a few months ago, and appart for the small issue of me having a banned breed - red nose american pit bull terrier, it was a doddle. It basically is a rabies vacine plus a blood test to confirm that the antibodies have taken - from memory this must be done within 30 days of your intended date of travel - note that you will have to pay for the rabbies vaccine, the test to make sure the antibodies have taken, and the issueing of the actual passport so expect to pay between 200 and 250 all up. And taking your dog on the plane with you - though they don't travel in the passenger section with you, the price is capped at 10% of the airfare. Since last August my dog has travelled to mainland Europe with me about a dozen times.

I should add that you will also need to have all your dogs vaccines up to date as well.
