Hi has anybody used a pedestal dog stand to groom their dog? Like this one:
What do

you think?

My dog has had surgery on her back leg and slipping patellas, she hates her back feet being touched and I thought this might help?

I think I'd see if any local groomers use something like this, and ask if you can try it out (or if they can try her on it) before going to the expense of buying one. I'd worry she would still hate having her feet touched but couldn't do anything about it; and that could make it a lot worse.

I don't think my dog would tolerate it.

You might also be interested in cooperative care - look up Chirag Patel's Bucket Game for more information.

Great idea, I haven't seen any in this country being used, it looks like a great idea taking the weight off her legs - assuming she doesn't panic!!
Thanks

As a dog groomer, there are a few techniques that we are trained to use to support and comfort pups into a suitable position without the use of aids and thereby allowing us to handle certain body parts that some dogs aren't too keen about. However there are some situations where items such as this can be really helpful. At our salon, we don't use pedestals such as these, but for some dogs we find that the grooming hammocks work very well, especially if the dog is a little nervous. However it can be a bit hit and miss where some pups just don't like it at all and can be extremely restless! I imagine it would be very similar to the pedestal as it holds the dog in a similar position. If possible, I'd really recommend seeing if there's anywhere you could try one out first.
