These are awesome advices from one of pet veterinarians.

According to the American Animal Health Association, the # 1 sign of gum disease could be mouth odor ... And here is the creepy part, gum disease is also the biggest disease that our pets today. It is also known that they lead to other topics such as heart disease, kidney failure and even liver disease. Unfortunately, except bad breath, there is little to no evidence to say that the disease occurs. As a result, the periodontal disease is usually under-treated, and can cause several problems in the oral cavity and can be associated with damage to internal organs in some patients as they age.

Why is this now a topic? Simply - until recently, there were not many studies done on this type of problem.

How Gum Disease Starts - this is very long post, you can read the whole article here >>

It always puzzles me that pet insurance companies do not cover dental work. Perhaps now that this study has been published they can be persuaded? Of course our premiums would go up unless it was offered as an added extra.
