I have a 10 year old whippet who as a bad heart and can not go in the car for being sick and panting crying and just really up set is there anything I can give him to calm him down we have have tried takeing him out everyday and it just does not seem to work but he is upsetting my other whippet and she is getting frightened and a day out is like a nightmare

The good old Ginger nut biscuit cured my collie from travel sickness.

But if it is nervousness of being in the car, everytime you clean the car, work on the car,,, or just take time out to have the dog go in and out of the car,,

plenty of treats if he goes in without a fuss,

if he pants, gets sick when the car is not moving, it will more than likely be nerves.

Play next to the car, throw his ball inside and praise him if he goes in and retrieves it, make the car a fun place to be in, hide treats in the car and let him find them.

If you are driving sometimes a cage will cause travel sickness as the dog cant see out the window.

Try putting him on the rear seat with the window slightly open,,,as long as he can safely get his nose out is all you need.

Plus you can monitor your dog better if he is closer to you, you can't always see whats happening in a cage at the back of a car.

Please don't shout or chastise your dog for being sick, this will just make his nearvousness a lot worse.

My dog has his head out the window all the time, he loves the various smells etc. He has his own seat n\s rear, anyone sits in his seat he jumps up beside them and shoves them with his butt till they move.

Difficult one to cure without seeing the dog, but with trial and error, patience and love, I'm sure the both of you will eventually sort things out.

Please keep us informed on any progress.
