I have 2 dogs/puppies with just 2 months between them. One is a gorgeous silk haired Havanese who is now 11 months old. My other pup is the sweetest 9 month old Havanese who was given up by her first owner. She is the loveliest, sweetest and most playful girlie. I have had dogs before but never 2 at once. It’s a learning curve but seeing them together makes it worth while. I’m now officially a dog bore

Hi and welcome to you all:) What are your dog's names and any pics?

Going back to the title f your post, I can't think of any reason why you couldn't crate train at nine months. I don't know whether you need advice on actually doing it but we have an excellent guide here. It's quite a long read so get a coffee, but it is very good.

Welcome :)

Yes, you can crate train older dogs as you would a puppy, but there is a right way to do it and a wrong way - I see JoanneF has just posted a link for the right way.

Why do you want to crate train your dogs? I didn't use a crate for mine, but I do think it's useful for your dog to be happy in one in case they need to be confined for medical emergencies, or for short periods/at night in a hotel room where you don't want them to jump on the bed or eat the furniture.

I want to crate train the 8 month old because the 11 month old is already crate trained. We travel a lot with the dogs and I prefer them to be in the crates instead of wandering around. The little one already eats dinner in her crate and she will sleep in there if the door isn’t closed. The next stage is actually closing the door.
