Anyone watching this? I don't care if none of the dogs get as far as the plane, it's fascinating just watching the training steps. Who do you think will do best?

The plot thickens!

What are you on about or have I lost the plot too? :ermm: !!!!!!!

Sky 1 on Sunday evenings. A panel of experts including Victoria Stillwell have selected a dozen rescue dogs and they are being given training with the aim that one might be able to perform a manoeuvre in a plane. Follows on from the dogs in Australia who were taught to perform driving tasks in cars. To be honest, if Victoria Stillwell hadnt been involved I'd have dismissed it as a total gimmick but the basic training they are doing is actually quite good.

This week they were working in the dogs and trainers communication. So there was a series of exercises including verbal cues but no eye contact (like saying sit to another trainer, but seeing if the dogs would sit anyway), and non verbal cues like hand signals for sit, lie and up; and even head turns to guide the dog non-verbally through a maze. Today T and I tried to replicate some of them just for fun and I have to say he did brilliantly! We aren't in the market for a Cessna though ...
