I think dogs can go on the bus but are they charged and is it a fixed fee does anyone know. I need to go up town tomorrow and we allways take indy and lacey for a black pudding but have no idea how much they are on the bus. I would normaly walk with them if Tony was out in the car but my back and shoulder are still hurting and with car still smashed were on the bus

Hi Wendy

I was always told that lap dogs go free and you pay half fare for bigger dogs. That was a long time ago - things may have changed and it depends on different areas too.Also, it depends on the drivers interpretation of a lap dog!

In Leeds, 1 dog goes free as long as its not a huge dog and then its half fare fir a second one.

If someoe wants to talk quite a few on the bus, its up to the driver if he/she will let them on and its dependent on how busy the bus is too.

One day I had been out the town shopping and decided to get the bus home. When I got on the bus I asked for a single ticket. The bus driver asked me if I had a bus pass. Confused I said no, I didn't. He leanded forward and said to me, "You could apply for a wee bus pass for yerself you know, you should find out about getting one."

"Ok, I will..." I said. All the time thinking, Jesus, do I REALLY look that old!!! (I'm 31!!) :blink:

So I wander down to my seat, mind still boggling at what had just been said. I sat down and asked Drew, a guide dog I was boarding to sit........

Dogs are half fare on our local buses, and it's up to the driver whether he will carry them or not. There's one grumpy g*t of a driver who apparently always refuses, and has left people stranded not able to get home. :angry:

we whent to the bus stope and they wanted to chrge for the dogs aswell and tony me and alexs so it would have been £4.60 to go just over a mile and the bus was filthy aswell. I took extra painkills got my stick and bloody walked. It would have cos nearly £10 to get my perscrition and do a bit of shopping. I ued to wonedr how the single mum over the road got taxes everywere instead of the bus but its a lot bloody cheeper we have call a taxes company and for up to 5 peoel plus the litle dogs form town is £3 door to door and the its no wonedr peoepl dont use public transport.

depends where you are, what bus co., sometimes depends on the driver

it's easier with small dogs

where they are allowed, two is usually maximum

in Ireland I usually can't take my dog on the bus

you are in Lancashire and I have taken two dogs (whippet and a 24 inch lurcher) on Lancashire buses with no problem but had to pay half-fares for them

in N Wales I just had to pay 50p per dog for all-day pet ticket

i know when i was a kid and used to go out with my dog she was a tiny poodle i payed chiled far whitch was 10p but my dog was 25p (yes its a long time ago)

I don't mind paying a small amount (my dogs are too big to sit on my knees or to be lifted in a carrying case). what annoys me is that where I live dogs usually aren't allowed on the buses at all.
