When we first had her, Oreo wasn't allowed upstairs on her own. This worked because we had a door to shut off the downstairs area.
Our new place doesn't have the option to shut off downstairs.
Oreo loves to sleep on the bed when were not around and any chance she gets she will. So we decided that we would shut the doors to the spare rooms (the spare bed has cream sheets and she has black fur) and leave the door into our room open so that she can come and go as she pleases.
As she is now getting on a bit she just sleeps any time that she is left and she has never caused any damage.
However, she thinks I am daft and that she is the most clever dog around when I accidently leave the bedroom door open.
When I put the key in the front door she bolts down the stairs jumps on the sofa in time for me to walk through the door. At which point she walks out the living room stretching as if to say 'you woke me up'.
Funny how there is always a warm patch on the bed
Funny animals dogs!
