As some of you know Freeway had a persisant cough, he had all the tests and xrays at the vets, steriods and antibiotics.............. nothing was found apart from small scarring on his lungs. No bacteria was grown from any of the swobs, so we were all at a loss.

Well he is no longer coughing, for about the last 3mths we have had silence !

The reason, well just by chance, I had ordered some Echinacea for one of the other dogs for a totally unrelated condition. Didn't make any differance to that conditition so I just though i'd try Freeway on it............. and his cough just stopped after a few days.

Not saying it will work for others but it won't hurt to try.

Here is the stuff I used ..............

Echinacea

That's great news to hear Freeway is now cough free,& thanks for the tip

thanks for the tip wendy  will keep the link if i need it later on

glad freeways lots better :huggles:

Glad the Echinacea worked for Freeway and is now cough free :huggles:

Wonder if Lampy has seen this as it sounds very similar to what Henrietta has been going through.

I'll certainly bare this tip in mind, thanks

My husbands old boss swears by this expecially just as you are catching a cold yourself. So suppose it will work on dogs too...

Apparently its widely used in all sorts of medicines.

Hope it works for Freeway too.. :luck:

Yes it was Lampys problems that sounded so like Freeways, that got me to post this

Hi Millie and everyone. We read with interest your words on how you teated cough and we will be getting some of what you used should we need a different treatment angle in the future. Thank you very much

Interestingly I was speaking to a vet recently that specialises in herbals, and although Echinacea is very beneficial for dogs it shouldn't be given permanently - It will lose it's effectiveness.

So give for around 6 weeks then have a break for a couple of weeks :D
