The sun shone brilliantly, the people all arrived, the racing started at approximately 12.15 noon, the showing at 2.30pm. This really was a day to remember. We are both burned alive with the beautiful sunshine. The fun, the craic and the coomardrie at this show today was a great reflection of our wonderful K9 Community, today at Barrentop was the perfect solution to get away for a while, from the trials and tribulations of everyday life. A big thank you to Terry and Joe and all the committe for a brilliantly organised show today. There was a lot of hard work and thought put in here. It was a credit to all involved. Many thanks to the Judge, and to Billy Harpur and Joe for organising and running the racing with such success and effiecency. A job well done Billy and Joe. I will leave it to a member of the committe to put up the individual winners and results, but the overall Winners were:

Overall Racing Champion, Billy Harpur with his beautiful dog. A well deserved win Billy.

Show Champion Lurcher and also Best in Show : Robert Boucher with Rico. Brilliant Dog, Hard to beat.

Show Champion Whippet : Silver with John Mc Stay

Show Champion Whippet Pup : Sasha with John Mc Stay

A great up and coming showman of very youthful years Grant Coates carried off an armful of trophies/rosettes with his excellent dogs. We are all very proud of you Grant. A chip of the the old block definately. Grant, I hope you got your £5 of you know who. A dedicated wee showman.

Before the show ended, the raffle took place. Again I was lucky enough to win a bottle of wine. I am going to enjoy a good drink out of it in a few minutes time. Probably finish the bottle

After the show we all headed for the restaurant and had a beautiful big bowl of stew and some tea and patries, and had some great laughs and conversation with the K9 Community. Earl Gardiner kept us all entertained with all his jokes. I dont know how he remembers them all. We finally left Barrentop with the happiest and fondest of memories in our hearts of a day we will talk about through the dark long cold nights of winter. The beauty and scenery from Barrentop in the sunshine will be etched in all our memories forever. Thank you George for that. A big congratulations to all the winners, a great day was had by all.

Will get my photo's on sometime tonight hopefully. But 1st can i say a big thanks to all those who faithfully supported us throughout the day. From start to finnish, there was not one hichup.Racing went briliantly. With Kirsty doin all the hard work,of taking and sorting the entrants from terrier's,whippets and lurchers.I didn't see from where Margatet and me where, just what was happening at the start line. But everything seemed to be going almost too well.Thankyou Margaret. For doing line judge for me.Hard to beat a good honest lady,(cause thats what this woman is)on the line.Kirsty.You did a fine job girl, for youre 1st attempt at running a racing event.Told you ,you were a chip of the old block. The field wasnt 100%.But under the weather conditions we've had for the whole summer,it weren't that bad.Well done to wee Grant,on beating the old man.Didn't take him long, pullin his dad,for the fiver he now owed him. That Whiskey realy put everything into those last few lengths,to take the honour's.There was a bit of a shock result in the overs though. As we took Scruff along for a days craic realy.Dont know where he got it from. But Danny, and Reni, just couldnt hold him off,and he went by,and beat them both by almost 2 lengths. To win the final. With Rico, bringing up the rear.In the whippet racing,it was Macha who took the honour's.Havent got her wee dogs names. But one of them ran a blinder,to win the final, with her other dog taking 2nd.Boyce was there, too. With her pair, and took the 3rd and 4th spot in the finl. Was good to see her again,as id almost forgot what she looked like. Will put all the results up later. When im posting the photo's.Sorry folks. But no raacing pix this time. But i did get let loose with the camera a bit later on,when the showing started. In the ring,we had one of irelands leading whippet men,and international whippet judge,to boot. This man has forgot more about whippets.Than the rest of us will ever learn.I was realy chuffed to have him run his eye's n hands over my wee blue Shadow bitch, and then more chuffed to be awarded champion pup.Again,in the overall puppy show championship.I was awarded reserve champion pup,to a cracking wee parson Jack Russle, who took the overall puppy championship.I think Grant, and John took home just about every other trophie and rosette.Well done you two. What a day you both had.One to remember,as Margaret has already said. The one trophy who everyone wanted. Was the overall show championship one..But once again. It was that Rico dog,of Robert Boucher's,who has been unstoppable in the ring all year, who took the honour's.This dog is simply one of the best specimins of the breed around at present, and his condition is always, top notch.Well donr Robert. There was a whole buzz about this wee show, and although we were wel down on numbers. We raised well over £300,for equipment, that can only improve on the success this club has had this year. Many thanks to the rest of the members,on yet another days work,so to speak. To George, and his family. Thanks again, for the tea and stews. To everyone who stayed for the craic afterwards,it was great craic, and friendly too.My daughter Stacey jumped in,and took over from Kirsty,in the pet, agility, and obedience ring. Thanks Stace. You may have got youreself a job girl. Thanks too.To Kenny.Who helped me set up the racing and make the field as safe as possible.Think all thats left to do is say thanks to the judges, who withstood the awful heat in the ring, and did a fine job.Roll on next year.As we've got plans to put this place on the map.As one of Irelands greatest Terrier,Lurcher, whippet, and gun dog shows. With a racing strip,to be proud off.Thankyou Margaret. For youre wee speach at the beginning. As i said.A real lady. With a gentleman, for a hubby. .....Billy.....

Sorry couldn't make the show/racing Billy, but Vixen's still carrying a toe injury and with the current spell of good weather a few chores around the kennels took priority!! Hope this is the start of something special for you folk down there, it takes a lot of time, effort and hard work to run a show, and it's not always appreciated!!

Well done John and Margaret for a clean sweep at the whippet showing, and Philippa for the racing!! Who was the whippet judge??

Janet

Well done everyone ,especially Whiskey

Just an added note on the racing, Without Kirsty Harpurs wonderful organisation and attention to detail at the starting line, we could not of successed without her. Well done Kirsty for your 100% input.

Can anybody tell Janet the name of yesterdays Whippet Judge. I think his surname was Kearney, and he is from Londonderry
