DORA

Dora is a 2 year old greyhound girlie who really didn’t like the racing life. She was handed in to us with her sister Clara, who is also looking for a home. Dora is a gorgeous black girl dotted with snowflakes and a white bib on her chest. She has put on a nice bit of condition since coming to us, and she is getting a beautiful gleam to her coat now.

Dora was originally very nervous when she first came to us, but since being in a foster home with lots of other dogs she has come on in leaps and bounds. She is very sweet and affectionate once she knows its ok to trust you, and is gradually getting used to greeting strangers too. Watching her slowly open up and start to enjoy life is an extremely rewarding experience, and we would like to find her forever home soon so that she can truly start to settle in to the home life.

Dora is a lovely houseguest in her foster home, and doesn’t cause any trouble. She is housetrained, used to all the usual household sounds, and is now relaxed enough that she has started to play. She loves to run for fun and has put on an impressive amount of muscle as she loves to play chase in the garden so much! She is also ok to be left with other dogs for company, and is quiet through the night.

We feel that a big part in Dora’s fast improvement has been having other, well-adjusted dogs around her. Dora loves dogs of all shapes and sizes, and has learned so much from the dogs she shares her foster home with. We feel that Dora will need at least one other self-assured dog already present in her new home so that she can continue to learn and gain confidence in herself. She is not cat friendly.

Little Dora does need some confidence building when she’s out in the ‘real world’ as she can still become frightened by loud noises or sudden movements. She also needs continued work on her lead skills. With a kind hand and lots of repetition, however, we don’t see it taking too long before this little mite is truly enjoying the world around her. She has improved so much in such a short space of time, and only wants to please you.

Dora will be a lovely companion and whoever adopts her will have the pleasure of seeing her beautiful little character opening up.

She is neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, de-flea'd and wormed and a homecheck will be required as part of the adoption procedure.
