I was road walking the dogs this morning all was going fine they had had a good run on the field first & i was now heading for home when i looked in front of me there was an elderly lady stood in the middle of the slip road that leads to the duel carriage way as i approached her she said will you help me i need the police i started to tell the lady where the police station was but all was not right she did not want to go there & she was very mixed up & rambling about all sorts so i said im only 100 yards from my house i will phone my Mrs & tell her whats going on & if you would like to come to my house she will make you a warm drink & we can contact your family so home we both went we got back to mine & the Mrs made a brew the lady was 86 years old & diabetic she also had dementia & was very confused so i asked her about family & tried to phone her sons 1 of her sons worked for a large news paper company she told me so i rang them & asked if they knew him i was told he had retired 6 years previous so i contacted the local police & told them the tale the lady had now been with me 50 minuites & had settled & was calm & talking sense while im telling the police about her the operator said the police helicopter was looking for her & she had been reported missing 30 minuites ago by her husband so 10 minuites later the police were at my door with the ladies husband in toe he was so pleased to see her safe & well & thanked me for taking care of her the police took the elderly couple home after telling me that the lady had gone walkabout on 2 previous occasions & had been found in Liverpool on both occasions so quite a drama considering i was only walking the dogs but the main thing all ended safe & well for all concerned.

OMGosh how lucky you found her when you did and how lucky she was found by someone caring enough to help her, unfortunately not everyone would :(

Oh, that's such a shame and must have been so worrying for her family - to think she might have wandered onto a busy road if you hadn't come along when you did. Thank goodness there are still people around like you who don't just walk on by and are prepared to offer some help.

Well done for helping the poor lady.  It must have been very frightening for her and worrying for her husband. At least all ended well thanks to you being a caring person. :)

Blimey you have some walks round your way (w00t) ......I'm glad it all ended well ....Good on you Jeff ;)

I could just picture it all. What an eventful morning! (w00t) Good for you and your wife for taking the time to help sort her out

What sort of people are in this world  today i was walking the dogs again & saw the same elderly lady walking down the center of the duel carriage way with the cars swerving around her not a car stopped i could not believe what i was seeing i was on a bridge over the carriage way i got to her as fast as i could & again took her to my house i called her son who to be honest did not seemed bothered so i called the police again the lady was with me from 10am until 12.45 when a nurse & police officer came to pick her up & give her some insulin the police said the lady had gone out when her husband had gone to the shops so i contacted social services & asked what they would do about it they were calling to see the couple & have offered to provide a sitter to look after the lady when her husband has to go out so all being well she won't be on the roads unatended again

Good grief - that poor soul really needs someone looking out for her (apart from you of course - she must think you're her guardian angel) I hope that a sitter can be arranged for her soon.

So glad you were there for her - it's frightening old age - any of us could end up like that - I hope there is someone around like you if I do :D
