Couldn't make the Derby this weekend, so spent me time in the pub and surfing the net...Whilst in the pub we talked about Rio Ferdinand's ban after failing to attend a drug test. It made me think, that he knew he had to give a sample, and failed to do so for one reason or another, however in whippet racing drug testing as far as I know is not independent...Let's clarify that....Anyone can race a dog and know the testers are gonna be turning up, if they are are in the know...so, I don't suggest anyone cheats, but how an earth can drug testing be fair? When some racers know they're gonna be there and some don't? No other sport is run like this I'm sure...please correct me if I'm wrong...Cos, I'm sure Man U or Arsenal don't supervise drug testing for the F.A. Find it kinda weird meself, just an observation...don't bomb me...

Regards,

Paul

As far as testing goes Paul, if you are like most whippet racers it makes no difference if testing does take place because you and most know that you have nothing to worry about if they test your dog. I would certainly like to see an outside body take and test and report their findings, but then the stumbling block would be payment and how much. Would people pay say an extra £50-00p per year on their subs to see that it was done by an outside body? What would those who could not afford this payment do? There are those that say if you cant afford to do it correctly then dont do it at all. You will be damned by some whatever way dogs are tested

Someone told me the other day that because of the expense of finding a new drug tester (the old one no longer does it) there will be no drug tests in the future. Don't know how true this is or not.

anothe rumor going round testing still in place got it first hand

yes drugs ive found a tester for all bodies it's a bloke in my local pub dangerous dave he will try anything lol :- "

Am I not surprised he's a mate of yours Tony...LOL :)

Hi D.D hear you left your mark on a lampost or two on the way home also and would have been done for indecent exposure but for the lack of evidence?was it the local plod who stated he could not understand how you managed to keep standing as you were hanging on to very little?

steve! :D :D  :D

Yes thats right john ..its costing the members again ...

 SO NOW THEY ARE PAYING £100 A DAY FOR A VET TO TAKE TESTS AND SEND THEM TO A BOGUS LAB, WHY NOT JUST FIND ANOTHER LAB :clown:

BOGUS -_- this sort of comment is why the bwra has no chairman ,if it keeps going there will soon be no racing left .....it was only a so called BOGUS lab after a certain test...came back positive :clown:

I would prefer it if the extra money went towards getting a full screening test.

£172 per test at hfl but its still a good idea vicky ,a few year ago four dogs were experimented on, half of each sample were sent to both labs, one being hfl the other henry leach, the results were in whippet news and both labs produced the same results , so how is henry leach labs BOGUS :(

BOGUS LAB ???????? IT WAS FINE TILL YOUR DOGS TEST CAME BACK POSS.

ARE YOU HAPPY WITH YOURSELF AND THE TROUBLE YOU HAVE CAUSED. WE HAVE LOST A BLOODY GOOD CHAIRMAN MAINLY BECAUSE OF YOU.

WHY NOT TRY ANOTHER HOBBY LIKE PIDGEON RACING !!!!

AND LET HONEST WHIPPET RACERS ENJOY WHAT IS LEFT OF THE SPORT.

NOT TRUE, PAUL SAID HE WAS NOT HAVING CHRIS CALLED A CHEAT, IF IT WAS BECAUSE OF THIS LAB THEN HE NEVER SAID THAT ON SAT, I WILL ALSO SAY THAT THE NWRF HAD NOT BEEN HAPPY WITH THIS LAB FOR SOME TIME, THAT IS WHY THE SAMPLE TEST WAS SENT, IT WAS Dr GRIFFITHS THAT WANTED TO DO THE 4 TESTS, SO HE NEW WHEN THEY WOULD BE IN THE P.O BOX, I HAVE NEVER SAID HE IS NOT A BIO CHEM, WHAT I HAVE SAID IS THE LAB IS ONLY A LAB IN NAME, IT IS NOT A REG BUSINESS, AND IT IS NOT AT THE ADDRESS HE PRINTS ON THE REPORTS ( BANGOR BUSINESS CENTRE, 2 FARRAR ROAD, BANGOR, GWYNEDD, ) IF Dr GRIFFITHS HIS SO WORRIED ABOUT WHAT WE ARE SAYING THEN WHY NOT TAKE US TO COURT, THAT WOULD MAKE MORE SENSE THAN WANTING A VET TO TAKE THE SAMPLES,

:D WE WERE TOLD THAT THE BWRA DID FULL SCREEN TESTS, BUT THAT WAS NOT HAPPENNING WAS IT, :b

 how much is a full urine test i,m a bit confused and i don;t think its my age :D .a partial blood test at one of the local vets is 40 pounds and afull blood test

is 80 pounds . the results are back same day.how this came about was we put dog in for blood tests and nothing was found,so they knew something was not right so they asked to do a full blood check, result being cushing disease and under lying tumour.

how would you feel;if your whippet was epiletic and to try and lead a normal life you have to take(epiphen)every day .

this drug is a barbituate would this dog be allowed to run in champs bwra, nwrf????????? .

:b LES, FULL SCREEN TEST AT H,F,L WOULD BE £190 CHEQUE MADE TO H,F,L

AT HEARY LEACH ASS, £50, CHEQUE MADE TO Dr GRIFFITHS
